In addition to the Washington Center, VFS Global will open new centers in HOUSTON (May 30), CHICAGO (June 5), BOSTON (June 6) to collect the applications of visa applicants residing in the respective consular districts of the French General Consulates of these three cities. Visa applicants who reside in these consular districts can already make an appointment on the France-Visas website.

As from Wednesday 04 April 2018, you may book an appointment on line to submit your application in the VFS VAC of WASHINGTON from Wednesday 18 April onwards. The opening of other visa application centers in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco will be announced later.

How to submit a visa application?

  • Holders of an Official / Diplomatic passport


    • Holders of an Official / Diplomatic passport can visit any of the VFS France Visa Application centers in USA (except the Washington DC VFS center) between 1pm till 3pm local time to submit their application for France Visa.
    • You do not require to book an appointment before your visit.
    • You may also apply directly at the Consulate General of France in Washington DC.

  • Booking an appointment

    Before booking an appointment, you are kindly invited to:

    • visit the official website FRANCE-VISAS (link to https://france-visas.gouv.fr)
    • check whether you need a visa
    • if you need a visa, check whether you hold a document proving your residence (or enrolment at university) in the jurisdiction « Visas » of the Consulate General of France in Washington (to be allowed to submit your application at the Washington VFS Centre);
    • if you need a visa: create an account
    • fill in your visa application on-line (your visa application form will be automatically filled in and available for printing);
    • check the amount of the visa fees
  • At the end of the France-Visas process

    • The acknowledgment letter along with a checklist of required supporting documents will be displayed: save it and print it;
    • your visa application form will be available for printing: save it and print it
    • the page indicating how to book an appointment will be displayed;
    • click on the link to VFS Global appointment booking module
  • At the VFS Global centre

    • you have to bring a complete visa application as mentioned on the France-Visas website.
    • The visa application will not be accepted without the printed visa application form.

    A well-trained and professional Visa Application Centre team will visit you at the selected location to collect your biometric data and visa application.

    The service is available to groups of applicants such as students, summer school groups or corporate groups.

    Students: Special Group Discounts

    Applicable to students enrolled in universities in the same city as a permanent VFS Global Visa Application Centre:

    • For a group of 30 applicants, an additional fee of US$57.50 per applicant will be added to the basic VFS Global service fees and to the visa fees.
    • For groups smaller than 30 applicants, the total cost of US$1725 for a session will be divided equally by the number of applicants.

    The cost is calculated on the basis of groups of 30 applicants submitting their application the same day.

    Applicable to students in other cities where VFS Global does not have a permanent Visa Application Centre:

    • For a group of 30 applicants, an additional fee of US$92 per applicant will be added to the basic VFS Global service fees and the visa fees.
    • For groups smaller than 30 applicants, the total cost of US$2760 for a session will be divided equally by the number of applicants.

    The cost is calculated on the basis of groups of 30 applicants submitting their application the same day.

    For all other categories regular rate applies:

    • For a group of 30 applicants, an additional fee of US$115 per applicant will be added to the basic VFS Global service fees and the visa fees.
    • For groups smaller than 30 applicants, the total cost of US$3450 for a session will be divided equally by the number of applicants.

    The cost is calculated on the basis of groups of 30 applicants submitting their application the same day.

VFS GLOBAL shall not be responsible to ascertain authenticity or accuracy of the information provided by the Applicant. It shall be the duty of the Applicant to ensure that the information provided to VFS GLOBAL is accurate, complete and up to date.

  • Inquiry about general visa application process:

    Users making inquiries as regards visa application process in general, need not provide any personal information.

  • Inquiry about status of submitted visa application/s:

    Users making inquiries as regards status of visa application submitted through VFS GLOBAL can quote application reference number to receive an update on the status of their visa, permit or travel document applications.

    The users may be requested to provide personal information such as given name or family name or date of birth or phone number or street address or email address or application date etc. or combination of such information for verification/ authentication purposes.

  • Users making inquiries as regards visa application process however should not ask or reveal the passport number or personal information while interacting via email with VFS GLOBAL and/or its third party service providers/ vendors. Instead use of application reference number is recommended. VFS GLOBAL shall not be obliged to respond to e-mails containing personal information. In case any personal information is disclosed, the same shall be at the sole risk of the Users/ applicants and VFS GLOBAL will not be in any manner responsible for any events of misuse etc.

For the quality control purposes the interaction/s with user/s may be recorded. In such cases the user/s will be informed of this practice and purpose at the start of any such interaction. Unless a different requirement is mandated by the respective Diplomatic Mission/s, such recordings will be purged after a stipulated period as mandated by the Diplomatic Mission from the date of such interaction/s.

When disposing of equipment or devices used for storing personal information (such as, computers, diskettes etc.), VFS GLOBAL takes appropriate measures such as to removal or deletion of any stored information to prevent access by unauthorized parties.

    These terms and conditions will be subject to the United States of America Laws. We will try to resolve any disagreements quickly and efficiently. If you are not happy with the way we deal with any disagreement and you want to take court proceedings, you must do so within jurisdiction of U.S.A Courts.

Supply of Services Terms

These terms (which are referred to as the “Services Terms & Conditions” in the General Terms & Conditions) relate to the paid-for services supplied to you through the Company Site and should be read in conjunction with the General Terms & Conditions which shall also apply

For the purposes of these terms, the “Services” may include one or more of the services which are offered on the Website.

The Company shall be entitled to offer additional services to which these following terms and conditions shall apply at any time.

  1. Prices and Payment

    1.1    Depending on the Services you wish to purchase, your order of Services is an offer to purchase Services from either (a) the Company or (b) the French Government for whom we collect payment on the Website only. The Services will be made available to you once your payment has been authorised. There will be no contract of any kind between you and us unless and until you make successfully authorised payment for the Service. At any point of time until then, we may decline to supply the Services to you without any notice and without being liable to you and may act not to give any reason for the same at Company’s sole discretion.

    1.2    The fees for the Services (the “Service Fees”) are calculated and payable in advance as set out on the Website. The Company shall be under no obligation to provide the requested Service until the applicable Service Fee has been paid in full and within the timeframe of payment.

    1.3    Where applicable, prices shall state where any additional taxes are applicable and payable by you.

    1.4    Your credit/debit card details will be encrypted to minimise the possibility of unauthorised access or disclosure. Authority for payment must be given at the time of placing your order. You represent and warrant that you are fully and lawfully entitled to use the credit /debit card for making payments on this online payment gateway. We shall not be liable in any manner whatsoever for any monetary or other damage suffered by you on due to delay, failure, interruption or corruption of any data, any unauthorized use or access or disclosure of credit/debit card details or any other losses, costs, charges arising out of or in connection with the access to or usage of the payment gateway services and you shall keep us i.e. the Company fully indemnified in this regard. As cautious step, the Company suggests you to please not share your credit card or debit card details including your card no., pin no., name on card, etc with any other person. In case the card is misused or any unauthorised use of card takes place and eventually a transaction is made by that person on our payment gateway, please note that the Company shall not be liable to you in any manner whatsoever for the same and there shall be no reimbursements or refunds of amount in such cases. You shall be solely responsible and liable for usage of your card.

  2. Using the Services

    2.1    The Company shall provide an online application and payment portal to support the delivery of the France government’s visa application services to visa applicants as more fully described on the Company Site which shall facilitate the provision of the Services to you.

    2.2    The Company warrants that it has the right to provide the Services and will use all reasonable skill and care in making the Services available to you and in ensuring their availability. Because of the number of sources from which the Company obtains the content for the Services and because of the nature of the Internet, errors and omissions do occur, the Company shall not be liable or does not give any kind of warranties, in any manner whatsoever, in respect of the Services, its contents, its merchantability, or any other kind of warranty.

    2.3    The Company is continually seeking to improve the Services. The Company reserves the right, at its discretion, to make changes to any part of the Services at any point of time without giving any notice to you provided that it does not materially reduce their content or functionality. You agree and understand that the Company shall not be liable for the same in any manner whatsoever.

  3. No Commercial Use

    The Services are intended for and shall only be available for non-commercial and domestic use by individual visa applicants. The Company reserves the right, without any liability or responsibility, to refuse orders from businesses or that we consider are for commercial or other non-domestic concerns. You may not re-sell the Services without the prior express written consent of the Company.

  4. Cancellation and Termination

    4.1    Once you have paid for the Services, we shall make the Services available to you. You shall not be eligible to cancel any purchase of Services after the order is placed and Services are made available other than in accordance with these terms.

    4.2    Your access to the Services may be terminated at the Company’s sole discretion without any liability if you are in material breach of these terms and the breach is not remedied within the period of 3 days after written notice of the breach has been given to you. If we reasonably believe your breach of these terms affects our lawful operation of the Services or third party customers we may suspend your access to the Services at any time with reservation to claim from you any damages or liabilities suffered by the Company due to such breach committed by you.

  5. Fees and Refunds Policy

    5.1    You shall only be able to cancel or apply for a refund of any Service Fees in accordance with the refund policy set out in Annex A to these terms (the “Refund Policy”).

    5.2    Use of any of the Services offered on the Website does not imply or guarantee in any way that your visa application will be successful. Notwithstanding the use of any of the Services, all visa applicants must qualify against the requirements of the French immigration rules.

    5.3    You will receive a confirmation of your payment by email, as well as an on screen confirmation, after You make payment of the Fee.

    5.4    The Refund Policy appended hereto as an Annex shall apply to [Fees] payable by visa applicants pursuant to this Agreement.

  6. Limitation on liability

    The Company shall not be liable to you under these terms and conditions for any losses relating to or arising in connection with Services provided to you under these terms and whether based on an action or claim in contract, negligence, tort, misrepresentation (other than fraudulent misrepresentation) breach of statutory duty or otherwise in connection with the Services to which such claim relates.

    Under no circumstances will the Company be liable to you for lost profits, or for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising out of or in connection with the use and operation of payment gateway services, regardless of the type of claim and even if the Company has been advised of the possibility of such damages, such as, but not limited to loss of revenue or anticipated profits or loss business.

ANNEX

Refund Policy

Notice to all Visa Applicants:

It is important that You read this Refund Policy carefully. Certain services provided to Applicants are provided directly by the French Government Home Office and shall be entirely non-refundable once an Application has been made. You should familiarise yourself with the terms of this Refund Policy prior to purchasing any services.

  1. Interpretation:

    Unless otherwise defined, defined terms in this Refund Policy shall have the meaning given to them in the Website Terms and Conditions and/or the Services Terms and Conditions.

    1. Application: means a form to be completed by an applicant requesting the provision of Services and/or application for a visa from the Authority which is part of the French Government submitted along with a passport and supporting documents.
    2. Authority: means the French embassy
    3. Chargeback: means where an Applicant using the online payment portal makes a complaint to his/her card issuer bank that a transaction is disputed and/or fraudulent.
    4. Service Fees: means the fees payable by You for the Services purchased in accordance with the Services Terms and Conditions.
    5. Issuing Bank: means the bank who has issued card to You as card holder.
    6. Non-Refundable Services: means any Services which are not specified as Refundable Services.
    7. Refundable Services: means those Services eligible for refund pursuant to Clause 1, Section B.
    8. Refund Eligibility Criteria: means the criteria set out at Section D.
    9. Refund Request Form: means a form with requested information to initiate a refund which can be located at and downloaded from the Website.
    10. Services: means and includes one or more of the services which are offered on the Website.
    11. Services Terms and Conditions: means the terms and conditions for the use of the payment portal and provision of the Services which are available to view on the Website.
    12. Transaction Charges: means any fees levied by a bank or financial institution upon processing a valid refund request to Applicants which may vary from case to case.
    13. “Us”: means VFS Global Services plc whose principal place of business is at [to be inserted] or any party acting on Our implicit instructions (with "Our" being construed accordingly).
    14. "You" includes the person requesting the Services or any party acting on such person's instructions (and "Your" shall be construed accordingly).

  2. General Refund Conditions:

    Please read the Refund Policy carefully as it will give You information and guidelines regarding the Refund Process, as applicable for the Services provided by Us to You.

    1. The following Value Added Services (“VAS”) are the only eligible Services wherein the refund may be applicable subject to the terms and conditions mentioned herein:

This list of Refundable Services and the remaining terms of this Refund Policy are subject to change by Us at any point of time and in the event of any amendments, We shall make a suitable announcement on the Website. The changes will apply after We have given notice. If You do not wish to accept the revised policy, You should not continue to use the Services. If You continue to use the Services after the date on which the change comes into effect, your use of the Services indicates your agreement to be bound by the new Refund Policy.
    3. An Applicant who has paid for a Refundable Service may request an online refund in accordance with the eligibility criteria as further set out in the Refund Eligibility Criteria. Where the Applicant fails to meet any of the Refund Eligibility Criteria, We shall have the right in our sole discretion to decline the request for a refund.
    4. To apply for a refund, You must properly and fully complete and submit a Refund Request Form to Refund request.
    5. We shall process your Refund Request Form following receipt as soon as is reasonably practicable. Response times will vary depending on the mode of payment and stated reasons for request a refund of the Service Fees. In any event, We shall notify You of the outcome of the request in accordance with the timescales set out in Section D below.
    6. The refund will only be approved or rejected post verification by Us.
    7. Any Transaction Charges which arise upon processing a refund of applicable Refundable Service shall be borne solely by the Applicant. Transaction Charges, Service Fees, bank charges as well as administrative costs incurred by the Company for processing the Applications will be deducted from the final amount to be refunded.
    8. By filling the Refund Request Form, the payment of refund is not guaranteed.
  3. Refund Eligibility Criteria:

    1. All requests for refund or cancellation of a Service(s) will only be accepted where notice is received by Us no later than 15 working days from the date of booking of Service (s) and such notice shall be provided to Us by completing the Refund Request Form and sending this to Refund request. Provided that such a Service(s) has not been taken/utilized by the applicant at the time of applying for refund.
    2. Your Application is finalised once You have submitted Your completed Application and paid the specified Service Fees for the relevant Services. Due to the administrative costs incurred to process Applications, should You wish to withdraw or cancel Your Application after it has been finalised, You may only get a refund of the Refundable Service (s) provided that (a) You have not given your biometric data, and (b) We have not commenced processing your Application and (c) You fulfilling the Eligibility Criteria for refund.
    3. In case of cancellation or withdrawal of Refundable Service (s), refund will be processed in the same method as payment was made for these services. E.g if payment was made via use of credit or debit card, refund will also be done to that credit/debit card.
    4. Under no circumstances will the Company be under any obligation to consider a refund of Service Fees for Non-Refundable Services. Please note that under any circumstances the Company’s mandatory Service Fees and Visa Fees are Non-Refundable. If You wish to seek a refund for Non-Refundable Services, You must contact the Authority directly. Contact details can be provided upon request. In no event will a refund be given due to a visa application refusal.
  4. Chargebacks:

    1. Should You wish to withdraw or cancel your Application, You should confirm whether You are eligible for a refund in respect of the Service (s) availed by you. Any refunds should be claimed in accordance with the procedure set out in this Refund Policy.
    2. We expect You to contact Us using our online feedback form to resolve any problem or issue related to your Application and payment, before You make any Chargeback request. This Section does not affect any rights which You may have against the issuer of a debit or credit card.
    3. We will investigate any Chargeback requests made by You and in response will inform Your Issuing Bank whether any services has been cancelled.
    4. This Refund Policy will be amended from time to time if there is any change in the legislation or upon the mandate of the Authority and the same shall be final and binding upon you.

Beware of fraudulent job offers


Fraudulent Recruitment / Employment Offers

It has come to VFS Global’s attention that, individuals misrepresenting themselves as VFS Global’ agents or representatives have approached people to offer fraudulent/fictitious employment opportunities, with the intent to steal personal information or solicit money from people. We encourage you to exercise caution and common sense when receiving any such employment offer, which requires payment of any fees/money, or promises a work visa in exchange for money. The said offers are completely fake and not valid. VFS Global is not a Recruitment agency and does not offer recruitment services. Scammers operate primarily via the internet, email, phone etc. We warn people to beware of such scams.

Please be advised that, VFS Global is a visa processing company and we work only with government and diplomatic missions to fulfil their administrative requirements of visa application processing. Neither VFS Global nor its representatives will ask for money from individuals under any circumstances to lure them with employment opportunities either in VFS Global or outside. If you receive any offer that purports to be from VFS Global, which ask for money, these types of offers are fraudulent.

Warning signs of recruitment fraud

The following are some examples of recruitment fraud which are in violation of VFS Global’s processes and ethical practices:

  • The email is not sent from an official VFS Global e-mail address but from a free e-mail service such as: Hotmail, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. It is also possible that, the email is sent from a fake email address.
  • You are asked to disclose private or confidential information.
  • You are asked to be interviewed over the phone or via an instant-messenger type program.
  • You are requested to pay fees/money.
  • You are requested to complete bogus recruitment documentations such as an application or employment visa forms, (the VFS Global name and logo could be forged/fabricated and featured on the documentation without authority).
  • Insistence on urgency.
  • Money will be requested for processing Work Permits, Visa applications or the like.

Such actions are presumably intended to defraud or obtain personal information from the victims.

The activities of these individuals involve criminal and civil liabilities. While VFS Global takes such matter seriously and reserves its right to contact competent law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute such illegal activities, it is often difficult to locate and prosecute these individuals.

Therefore, if you receive a request, either in writing or verbally, for an interview or a job offer that you believe is or might be fraudulent or suspicious, please disregard them. You may also verify the same with VFS Global at communications@vfsglobal.com

Personal Data Protection

VFS respects the instructions of the French Authorities with regards to protection of personal data.

VFS saves personal data during the booking of appointment and, in certain cases, during the filling of the form.

This data is encrypted before being transferred to our servers based on secured protocols. Data is saved for a duration agreed with the French authorities, and then it is deleted.

Other data entered by VFS, particularly the biometric data, is not saved on VFS servers but transferred immediately on the servers of the French consular authority based on encrypted protocols managed by the French consular authorities.

Documents composing the visa applications submitted at the VFS centre by the applicants are transferred in totality to the French consular authorities. The sealed envelopes received back from the French authorities and contain the passports of the applicants are returned to the applicants or their representative. In case of failure of retrieval, these envelopes are returned back to the French consular authorities.

VFS does not sell, market nor rent to third parties the personal data of the visa applicants.
