This site provides information on procedures applicable to all Libyan residents who wish to apply for a short stay Schengen visa to travel to Germany as their main country of destination in the Schengen Area.

For Prospective Applicants:
Applicants who wish to apply for a German visa, kindly read the information on this website carefully. The guidelines listed on this website will help you prepare your documents as accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being delayed or declined due to inadequate or incorrect submission of documents.

The processing time for a Schengen-Visa which is applied for at VFS, is usually around 12 days.
During this time your passport has to be kept by VFS / the Embassy and it is NOT possible to return it.
In emergency, the passport can be returned, but then the visa-application cannot be further processed.

Please note that in order to save time at the Application Centre, it is advisable to fill the online Visa Application Form. Kindly follow the guidelines mentioned in document below to ensure your form is complete with all accurate data.

Visa Application Process
Step1: Before applying, please ensure you are very clear on your ‘Purpose of Visit’ - do remember we are here to assist and help you through the entire visa application process but are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. Since our work is primarily administrative in nature, we have no say on whether you will be granted a visa as this is entirely the prerogative of the Embassy of Germany to decide on.
Step 2: Please go to the link “All about visas” to understand details and requirements for various visa categories. Please select type of the visa you are applying for to obtain the information on the requirements. Please ensure you also check closure dates and read the security regulation notices before you visit the Visa Application Centre.
Step 3: To visit Visa Application Centre you need to book an appointment. You can either book an appointment online or by calling the Call Centre. Booking an appointment is free of charge and is subject to availability. To book an appointment, kindly click here.
Step 4: Visit Visa Application Centre in person as per appointment scheduled and submit your completed Visa Application Forms along with required supporting documents.
Step 5: Please check 'Visa Fee' table provided under the visa category you are applying for. Visa Application Centre accepts the fee in cash only, in Tunisian Dinars. A receipt will be provided for all payments made at the Centre.
Step 6: Track your application online, kindly click here. This service will provide an update on the location of your application. Please note the original payment receipt will be required during collection.

After submission of documents at the Visa Application Centre, you can also check status of your application online by simply providing the unique VAC Reference Number and your Date of Birth. VAC reference number can be found on the Invoice-Cum-Receipt provided by the Submission Officer at the application centre at the time of submission.
