Documents Return procedure

Once we receive your documents from the High Commission of India or its respective Consulates, we can arrange the mode of delivery using either of the following options:

  1. Secured Courier Delivery (Within 24 hours, once dispatched from application Centre)( strongly recommended)
  2. Secured Courier Delivery (3 Days Service):
  3. Collection for processed visa applications from the Office at the counter (Applicable only to Goswell Road, Paddington and Birmingham) : Please note there is no appointment system for collection of processed passport and waiting time will be applicable the application centre. Please seek advice from the officer at the time of submitting your application.

Important Note: A maximum of one processed Passport/Document shall be returned in one courier envelope. Applicants are requested to pay the required courier fee to return the processed passport along with the fees and VFS Global service charges, if one envelope is not provided per application.

DX Courier Delivery

All India Visa and Consular Application Centres across UK have been using DX secure, UK’s leading independent courier and Mail Company, for returning the processed passport(s)/applications to the applicants who wish to use the service from us for a nominal charge of £14.80 inclusive of VAT for 24 Hrs Secured Delivery Service & £8:00 inclusive of VAT for 3 days delivery service. DX offers a trusted, reliable and secure service with a signed for delivery by the recipient. This service is available at all India Visa and Consular Application Centres in the UK.

Alternatively, applicants can also use Royal mail next day recorded and signed for delivery (silver royal mail plastic envelopes). No other Royal mail service will be accepted.

For Passport/Consular Services: Applicants are required to provide 2 return envelopes to send the documents safely, once processed.

For OCI Services: Applicants are required to provide 2 return envelopes to send the original documents/stamped passport and OCI card per application safely, once processed, at the time of submission.

For Surrender of Indian Passport: Applicants are required to provide 1 return envelope to send the documents safely, once processed.

Counter Delivery (Applicable only to Goswell Road and Birmingham)

Processed passport(s)/application/Documents can be collected from the India Visa and Consular Application Centres (Visa) with original acknowledgment receipt provided at the time of application submission.

Applicants are requested to adhere to the processing time advised at the time of submitting the application. The processing time may vary on case to case basis and as per the services. For visa applications, please ensure that you adhere to the designated pick up times; passports/documents will only be handed over as per the time specified below -

  • Collection Time: 16:00 to 17:30 Monday - Friday and except closed holidays and where the High Commission of India is closed on rare occasions under the directives of the Government of India to mark events. holidays.

    All applicants are personally responsible for their receipts. Delivery of passport(s) is given only to the bearer of the original receipt. Hence, you are strongly advised to report any loss or theft of receipt immediately to the India Visa and Consular Application Centre where you submitted your application.

    Applicants applying in the Hounslow, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, Liverpool, Bristol, Belfast, Bradford, Newcastle and Leicester Application Centres can organise the courier at the counter at the time submitting the applications or provide a Self Addressed Envelope (Royal Mail Special Delivery) - one passport per envelope Collection of processed passports/documents is not available at these centres.

Important note: For OCI/Passport/Consular Services: Applicants are required to provide 2 return envelopes, the same can be organised at the counter while submitting your application(s) The processed passports/ OCI documents/Consular Services/ Surrender of Indian Passport documents will be dispatched directly to the applicant's address, once processed successfully by the competent authorities.
