Zealand Visa Application Centre in Tokyo, Japan.
This site provides information on procedures applicable to Japanese citizens
and nationals of other countries who are lawfully residing in Japan, who wish
to apply for a visa to travel to New Zealand.
People holding diplomatic or official passports and wishing to apply for visas
for New Zealand should contact the New Zealand Embassy in Tokyo (email:

For Prospective Applicants
Please read the guidelines on this site carefully to ensure that your
application is submitted correctly.
Other important information regarding visas:
The New Zealand Visa Application Centre in Tokyo is authorized by Immigration
New Zealand (INZ) to receive applications for temporary entry and residence
class visas for New Zealand, to collect visa application fees on INZ’s behalf
and to return passports to applicants after a determination on the visa
application has been made by INZ officers. The New Zealand Visa Application
Centre will also collect additional documents requested by the INZ and forward
them to the INZ branch in Shanghai, China.
Please note that all applications will continue to be assessed and decided by
immigration officers at the INZ branch in Shanghai in accordance with certified
New Zealand Immigration Instructions.
Staff members of New Zealand Visa Application Centre in Tokyo provide
facilitation services only. Although they provide information about submitting
an application for a visa they cannot provide immigration advice and have no
influence on the outcome of an application for a visa for New Zealand.
If potential applicants wish to receive immigration advice, they should contact
a licensed immigration adviser or immigration lawyer at

Applicants are requested to read
the following steps carefully before submitting their application at the New
Zealand Visa Application Centre at Tokyo.
Please note: New Zealand has a bilateral fee waiver arrangement with Japan
meaning that for Japanese applicants only applying for any type of visa
offshore, there is no visa application fee. For more information, please see

COUNTER Application
Counter applications can be made by applicants themselves or by their
representatives.
Please provide representative photo ID copy along with Authority letter with
applicant’s signature if representative will submit application on behalf of
applicant.

Applicants from Japan should submit their applications at the New
Zealand Visa Application Centre in Tokyo, between 0800 – 1400 (Monday – Friday)
- except on the holidays mentioned in the
Japan Holiday list.

Make a clear copy of all the original documents, and two clear copies of
passport data page.

Complete the visa application form and document checklist. You should download
the application form here. |

You may refer to the ‘Important News & Notices’ section on the right side
of this page and look for any relevant updated information or notices before
applying. |
| Step 5 : |
Pay your visa application fee and facilitation fee at the Visa Application
Centre, along with your application form and required documents mentioned on
this site as per your visa type. |

Applications for residents of Japan can be submitted from outside Japan to the
Visa Application Centre in Tokyo. If you require the passports and/or documents
to be returned to an overseas address you must provide a pre-paid International
courier envelope for their return. If you require the passports to be returned
to the applicant in Japan, please ensure you pre-pay the VAC courier fee of JPY
750

Download the application form.
Download the relevant Checklist for your visa application type and prepare
documents as required by the Checklist.

| Step 2 : |
Applicants should remit to the designated bank account the
relevant visa fee for the application + facilitation fee for each application +
courier charge for each application.
Please write the applicant's name and date of birth under the additional
comments section when you make the payment, either deposit or bank transfer,
and send us the payment evidence with your application so that we can quickly
identify your payment.
You must ensure that we receive the full amount requested. Any banks charges
must be taken care of at your end.
*Please be advised that the name of the remitter should be the principal
applicant’s name.
*Please clarify the purpose of the remittance.

Please remit your fees to the following bank account if you are submitting your

Make sure when you pack your application to be sent to the VAC it includes:

| Step 4 : |
Please send an Email to the VAC email ID to which documents have been sent, the
scan copy of Airway Bill along with the bank remittance record and applicants’
details so that the VAC can check the whereabouts of your application and
confirm when it arrives.

| Step 5 : |
If the postal application is received and payment confirmed before 13:00hrs,
the application will be forwarded by the Visa Application Centre to Immigration
New Zealand on the next working day. If the couriered application is received
after 13:00hrs and payment confirmed, then the application will be forwarded to
Immigration New Zealand on the next second working day. |
| Step 6 : |
The checklist will be verified by VAC staff. If there are any documents missing
you will be advised by email, which documents are missing. (The application
will be forwarded to INZ as it is. INZ may request that you provide the missing
documents, or INZ may return your application) |
| Step 7 : |
An Invoice cum Receipt (ICR) will be generated by the VAC. The original ICR
will be put into the pass back envelope to be returned. A soft copy of the ICR
/ your application reference number will be sent to you by email for online
tracking. |
| Step 8 : |
If the full fee is not remitted we will inform you via email. We will only
proceed with your application once we have received the balance of the fee.
