Welcome to the website for the South African Visa Application Centre in Ghana.

This site provides information for all Ghanaian, Liberian, Togolese and Sierra Leonean nationals who wish to apply for a visa to travel to South Africa. The information given here is also applicable to other nationals who are residing in Ghana with a valid residency permit of not less than 6 months.

For Prospective Applicants

If you wish to apply for a temporary visa to South Africa, kindly read the information on this site carefully. By following the guidelines listed here and submitting your documents accurately, you can reduce the chances of your application being rejected due to inadequate or faulty submission of documents. 

Processing time

The average processing time is Ten working days. In case the application is incomplete or queried and needs further investigation or in case the application has to be forwarded to the competent authorities for further consideration, the assessment may take weeks or even longer. Visa applicants are therefore advised to submit their applications approximately 4 weeks in advance.
Please note: The outcome of a visa application whether to grant a visa or reject or the turnaround time of visa is the sole prerogative of the South Africa High Commission. VFS Global Ghana is not responsible for any refusal or delay in granting a visa.

Note: All permit applications must still be submitted at the South Africa High Commission in Labone, Accra.

All administrative fines and repatriation deposits Must be paid into the South African High Commission’s Account at any Stanbic Bank Branch.

The South African Visa Application Centre accepts applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

Visa Application Process
Applicants are asked to study the following guidelines carefully before submitting their application.

Step 1 : Applicants are required to submit applications in person at the VFS South African Visa Application Centre.
Step 2 : Make clear photocopies of all original documents including previous UK, US, Canada, Japan and Schengen visas, one photocopy of the bio data page of your passport and copies of all other documents that are pertinent to your application.
Step 3 : Complete the visa application form. You can download the Application Form from our website.
Step 4 : Once you have followed the above guidelines you may come to the VAC with your filled-in application form and all applicable documents. Please visit the Contact Us page for application timelines and other information.
Step 5 : Pay your visa application fee and services fee at the bank teller counter at the Visa Application Centre. Please ensure both fees are paid into their respective accounts. The fees will not be reimbursed in case the application is withdrawn or refused
