VISA PROCEDURES

The visa department of the Consulate of Spain in San Francisco will consider applications for all kind of Visas IN PERSON AND BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. One appointment per person.

Once your appointment has been scheduled, print a copy of the confirmation.
Due to the quantity of applications received by this office, it is recommended that you plan your trip to Spain with sufficient time to schedule for an appointment and to process your visa application.

At the time of your appointment, you must present the following: 

Printed confirmation of your appointment 
Completed Visa application form
Visa Fee (cash or money order)
All documentation required for the visa which you are applying for:

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not bring these items, you will NOT be allowed to pass through security at the entrance to the Consulate.

To check the status of your visa, visit: http://sutramiteconsular.maec.es with your personal code given at your interview. No information will be provided over the phone regarding the status of the visa.
Unless duly authorized by the applicant, no information will be provided to anyone on behalf of the applicant.

WE HIGHLY RECOMEND YOU NOT TO PURCHASE TRAVEL TICKETS UNTIL YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED

It is not necessary for the following individuals to request an appointment:

Those with a Diplomatic or Official passport on an official mission.
Those who have been notified of the approval of their visa by this consulate.

If one of these situations apply to you, simply request a number from security in the reception area any weekday at 9:00 AM and wait to be seen by a visa representative.

Information for EU citizens and Family:

European Union Citizens Status in Spain

To collect your visa in person, Monday to Friday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm ONLY (no appointment needed)
VISA APPLYING PROCESS

Step 1
Go to the link “All about your Visas” and choose either Short Term Visa or Long Term Visa and understand the requirements to complete your visa application.

Step 2
Click the link ‘BOOK AN APPOINTMENTTO THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF SPAIN’ or call our Call Center and follow the instructions for selecting a suitable appointment date from the available appointments.

Step 3
Pay the VFS service charge through the secure website or the Interactive Voice Response Service and get confirmation of your selected date.

Step 4
Print your Interview Appointment confirmation letter and report for your interview at the Consulate on the scheduled date with the supporting documents. Kindly ensure you read the security regulation notices before you visit the Consulate for an interview.

Applicants must apply within their Consular Jurisdiction. Only applicants from Alaska, California (except for Southern California), Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, and US Pacific Territories may apply through the Consulate General in San Francisco.
