An ETA is an authority to enter Australia. ETA applications may be made over the internet, or may be made on your behalf by your travel agent or airline at time of ticket purchase. Travel agents and airlines may levy a handling charge for arranging your ETA.
Holders of Hong Kong SAR passports are eligible to apply for ETA online. Holders of British National Overseas passports are eligible to apply for ETA only through Hong Kong travel agents and airlines, but not via internet.
Holders of Taiwanese passports (excluding Taiwanese Compatriot passports) resident in Taiwan should apply for ETA through one of the approved travel agents in Taiwan. Further information is available at: click here
Holders of Taiwanese passports (excluding Taiwanese Compatriot passports) resident in Hong Kong and Macau should email their ETA request specifying if the visit is for business or tourism purposes and a copy of their passport bio-page to firstname.lastname@example.org
Holders of Hong Kong Documents of Identity, Macau SAR passports and People’s Republic of China passports are not currently ETA eligible.

Online students applications are processed at the Student Processing centre in Perth, Australia. The Australian Consulate-General in Hong Kong does not process online applications. All progress inquiries should be sent directly to the processing centre in Perth.
