31 July 2013: Effective 15 September 2013, VFS will accept Visa applications on behalf of the Austrian Embassy. Kindly go through our website to understand the Visa application process and other important details.

This site provides information on procedures applicable to all Thai residents who wish to apply for a visa to travel to Austria.

For Prospective Applicants:
If you wish to apply for a temporary visa to Austria, kindly read the information on this site carefully. If you follow the guidelines listed on this site, you will be able to submit your documents accurately. This will reduce the chances of your application being rejected due to inadequate or faulty submission of documents.

Processing Time:
Processing Time will be minimum of 15 days (excluding day of submission at VFS) for all the Visa categories. However, in some cases the procedure may take considerably longer.

Kindly note that Embassy of Austria would not entertain any query regarding status of your visa application within 15 days from the date of your application

Visa Application Process
Important
The visa fee is collected in cash at the VFS application Centre at the time of handing in the application.

For applications submitted in person at the Visa Application Centre - it is mandatory to schedule an appointment to submit your Short Stay application, but you may schedule one if you would prefer to. Please click on the link to make an appointment Schedule Appointment

Step 1 : Applications for Austria visa (Short-stay) are accepted at the Visa Application Centre.
Step 2 : Before applying, please ensure you are very clear on your ‘purpose of visit’ – do remember we are here to assist and help you through the entire visa application process but are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. Since our work is primarily administrative in nature, we have no say on whether you will be granted a visa and how much time it will take to process, as this is entirely the prerogative of the Consulate / Embassy of Austria to decide on.

Please note : All visa seekers are recommended to confirm their travel plans / Air-Tickets only after obtaining the visa. After applying for the Visa, the applicants will not be able to borrow their passports from the Embassy. The processing time for a Visa Application is 15 days on an average, however, there may be delay in the processing time according to the season, type of Visa or other unforeseen reasons.

Also, Kindly plan for your other travel, ONLY after you receive your passports back from the Embassy.

Holders of official or diplomatic Thai passports do not require a visa to enter Austria.

The Austrian Embassy Bangkok is able to process short stay visas (Schengen visas) for Slovenia and Malta
