Welcome to the website of The Germany Visa Application Centre in the United Kingdom.
The German Embassy in London is pleased to announce the opening of its Visa Application Centre operated by VF Services (UK) Limited. This service is available to all nationals who are resident in the UK and wish to apply for a short stay visa to Germany.

For Prospective Applicants

If you wish to apply for a visa for Germany, we strongly recommend that you read all of the information on this site. The provided guidelines will help you prepare your application as accurately as possible and minimise any processing delays.

Please note it is important that all applicants follow carefully the instructions and requirements on this website, and should not provide documentation based on previous applications, or on information provided from any other source.
Visa Application Process
All Appointments for residence permits (student visas, family reunion, work permits, working holiday visa, jobseeker visa, Van-der-Elst visa, research visa)) need to be made directly with the German Embassy and application needs to be submitted directly with the Embassy. If you wish to apply for a residence permit please book an appointment online. Click here to book appointment for residence permit only.

All Applicants are requested to visit ‘Important News and Notices’ for new updates on Postal applications.

Please Note – We strongly suggest that all applicants should check processing times’ , appointment availability & jurisdiction before applying for a visa.

Important - from 20 November 2015 the Visa Information System VIS will be introduced. Every applicant aged 12 years and over must apply in person in order to have biometrics (10-digit finger scans and digital photograph) when completing the application. Please go to the Biometric Data Collection page for more information.

Important – please ensure that you complete the application form here, and bring this form with you when applying. Please note that we cannot accept application forms obtained from any other source.

Note - Scotland and the following counties in North England are part of the Edinburgh Consulate General's consular district:

Cumbria, Darlington, Durham, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton on Tees, Tyne and Wear (Tyneside), as well as North Yorkshire with the exception of Selby and York.

Step 1 Please go to the section "Visa Information - All about your Visas" at top of this page to select the required category of visa. Please ensure that you read all sections carefully, including the ‘documents required’ and ‘processing times’.
Step 2 Please complete the application form in full, ensure it is signed, print a copy and bring with you when attending for your Visa appointment.
Step 3 Mandatory - Please Schedule An Appointment at the visa application centre to submit your application. Please note that you should submit your visa application no more than 90 days prior to your date of travel. Appointments can be made between Monday and Saturday inclusive.

Application submission by representation:
Now applicants can have their applications submitted by representation by providing this Power Of Attorney. Applicants will take full responsibility for the representative holding this document.

Application by post

Application in person
If you do not have a representative or are eligible to apply by post you must apply in person at the German Visa Application Centre
Step 4 On arriving at the visa application centre, you will be required to present your appointment letter, take a token at the entrance and be seated in the waiting area. You will next be called to our submission counter, where your application and supporting documents will be scrutinized, and your photograph and passport will be checked for validity. Finally, you will be issued a receipt for the fees and service charges paid as an acknowledgement of your application.

Please note that only applicants and carers/assistants will be permitted to enter the visa application centre.

Schengen Visa Information:

A Schengen visa has to be obtained from the Embassy of the country where the MAIN PURPOSE OF TRAVEL lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before applying at the Germany Visa Application Centre in London.

In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please apply to the Embassy of the country where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the number of days to be spent in multiple countries is the same, you must apply to the embassy of the country which will be your first point of entry.

Please note that the above rule applies not only to a single, consecutive trip to multiple Schengen countries, but also if separate trips to several Schengen countries are planned closely together. Example: If you wish to stay a weekend in Germany at the beginning of June and travel to Italy for one week in the middle of June, please apply at the Italian visa centre.

Please note that all decisions regarding the issuance of, duration and number of entries regarding the visa are at the sole discretion of the German Embassy
