The German Embassy in London is pleased to announce the opening of its Visa Application Centre operated by VF Services (UK) Limited. This service is available to all nationals who are resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 months who wish to apply for a short stay visa to Germany.

Visa Applying Process

| Step 1 | Only Tourists, Business, Transit and Dependents/ Spouses of EU Nationals applications are accepted at the VFS application centre. |
| Step 2 | All persons travelling should apply in person at the German Visa Application Center to lodge your application. Please note if you would prefer to apply by post, please go to the following link. Application submission by representation: Now applicants can have their applications submitted by representation by filling the Power Of Attorney. Applicants will take full responsibility for the representative holding this document.Without this document, applicants must be present to apply. If you are not a resident of the UK you should apply at the Embassy in your country of residence. On arriving at the visa application centre, you will be required to take a token at the entrance and be seated in the waiting area – you will next be called to our submission counter, where your application and supporting documents will be scrutinized, and your photograph and passport will be checked for validity. Finally, you will be issued a receipt for the fees and service charges paid as an acknowledgement of your application. |
| Step 3 | Please go to the section at top of this page "Visa Information - All about your Visas", to select the required category of visa. Please click on this link for an overview on the Application Procedure. Please ensure that you read the ‘documents required’ and ‘processing times’ sections carefully by clicking on these links. Please also be aware that documentary requirements may change from time to time, and applicants are therefore advised to check the requirements EVERY time when making a visa application, and should not proceed on information provided on previous applications. |
| Step 4 | Mandatory - Please Schedule an appointment at the visa application centre to submit your Short Stay Tourists, Business, EU Dependent or Transit application. Click on the link to make an appointment. Please note that you should submit your visa application no more than 90 days prior to your date of travel.
Appointments can be made at the visa application centre between Monday and Saturday inclusive. Schengen Visa Information: A Schengen visa has to be obtained from the Embassy of the country where the MAIN PURPOSE OF TRAVEL lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before applying at the Germany Visa Application Centre in London. In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please apply to the Embassy of the country where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the number of days to be spent in multiple countries is the same, you must apply to the embassy of the country which will be your first point of entry. Please note that the above rule applies only in the case of a single, consecutive trip to multiple Schengen countries. If you are planning _seperate_ trips to several Schengen countries, you should apply to the embassy of your first trip. It will be decided by this country if they can issue a visa that covers some or all of your planned journeys or if they will cover only the trip to their country. |
