All About Visas

Greece is a member state of the European Union and a part of the Schengen Treaty. These two capacities determine visa requirements for foreign citizens who wish to visit Greece.
A Schengen visa is needed when you are visiting one or several of the countries of the Schengen Area (i.e. Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia , Slovenia , Greece, Sweden, Switzerland). The duration of your total stay in Schengen countries shall not exceed 90 days in a period of 6 months, starting from the date of first entry.
Cairo, Egypt citizens do need a visa to visit Greece.
You have to apply for a Schengen visa at the Greek Visa Application Centre’s in Cairo, Egypt:
your main destination (the Schengen country where you will spend the longest time) is Greece, or
you are spending the same amount of days in several Schengen countries, but Greece is your first port of entry into the Schengen Area.
Applicants for Schengen visa are required to apply in person.

Applicants are requested not to call the Consulate General about the approval of their application, but to wait to be informed thereon by the Consulate General.

Please note that the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa.

3 months valid passport from the date of applying for Greek Visa is mandatory, please note that The Consulate General of Hellenic Republic, Cairo, Egypt does not accept additional pages inserted into passports. If you do not have 2 blank pages to which a visa can be affixed, a new passport must be obtained before submitting your application.
Visa applications cannot be submitted earlier than three months before the expected arrival in Greece.

The usual processing time at the Consulate General is 15 days. The number of days is counted from the day the application is received at the Consulate General:

Please note that if the Consulate General finds it necessary to submit the application to the Greek Immigration Service, any additional processing time at the Greek Immigration Service is NOT included in the above statement .
