All processing times mentioned below are average processing times..

Processing times mentioned do not include transit time by courier from the Collection Centre. Incomplete applications will lead to an increase in processing time and applicants will need to comply with any changes in the procedure that may occur during this time. VFS/Government of India would not be responsible for any inconvenience/problems faced due to any rejections or delays.

For Passports
  Fresh passport
  (Minimum 4 working days)
  Lost and Damaged Passport
  Minimum 2 weeks

Emergency Certificate
(Minimum 4 working days)

For lost/damaged passport a minimum of 2 weeks in most cases. However in some cases it could take more time.

Step 1

Step 2
Check fees payable and payment options

Step 3
Sign form/s at all indicated places

Step 4
Ensure photos are strictly as per specifications. Click here for photo specifications

Step 5
Attach all supporting documents as per the requirement of the High Commission of India. Make sure your application is complete. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.

Step 6
Submit your application at the India Passport and Other Consular Services Centre.

Step7
Track your application online

Step 8
Your passport and attested documents will be returned to you by the mode of delivery selected by you once processed. Allow for 2-3 days transit time for courier return applications. Transit times differ by location and do not take into account any public holidays.
