February 12 (Tuesday), 2013 will be a closed holiday for the Consular Wing of the High Commission in addition to the holiday on February 11 (Monday), 2013 on account of Chinese New Year. In lieu of which the Passport and Other Consular Services Application Centre (PCSAC) at Kuala Lumpur will also be closed on February 12, 2013. Therefore all Passports & Other Consular applicants wishing to travel to India during the period February 11 to 20, 2013 are requested to submit their applications well in advance to avoid any subsequent difficulties.

04 October 2012: With effect from 01 October 2012 Indian High Commission has introduced the Tatkaal service for Passports Renewal
 
01 October 2012: With effect from 01 Oct 2012 Indian High Commission has revised the fees for the Passports renewal and for other Miscellaneous certificates based on the passports. The related fees changes are as follows :

  SCHEDULE OF FEES PAYABLE IN RESPECT OF VARIOUS PASSPORT SERVICES WITH EFFECTIVE FROM 1 OCTOBER 2012

Note:
1. A service fee of RM 3.50/- would be charged by the ‘Passport and Other Consular Services Application Centre’ (PCSAC) over and above mentioned fees in case of application being submitted at the PCSAC.
2. Applicants desiring Tatkaal (Emergency) Passport Services may submit their completed application along with required documents directly at the High Commission of India between 0930 hrs to 1200 hrs on any working days. The Passport can be collected on third working day from the High Commission between 1630hrs to 1700 hrs.
3. Fee for a passport under Tatkaal scheme is inclusive of normal passport fee. The prescribed time limit is subject to fulfillment of all documentary requirements and completion of requisite formalities.
4. No Tatkaal fee is payable in the following cases, namely:

  (i) an applicant who has been advised to go abroad for specialized medical treatment and consultation (proof required for fee exemption), and an attendant;
  (ii) death abroad of an applicant’s spouse, father, mother, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild, brother or his spouse, sister or her spouse (applicant should provide sufficient details as to when and where death took place);
  (iii) all Diplomatic or Official passport holders (except persons, who were issued short validity diplomatic or official passports for short visits abroad) who apply for an ordinary passport in lieu of their Diplomatic or Official passport up to three years after expiry of passport;
  (iv) casual visitors from India, whose passports are stolen or lost or damaged while abroad;
  (v) in Missions or Posts abroad, if a passport is issued in normal course on first come first served basis even within Tatkaal timeframe;
  (vi) inter-country adoption cases if passport is issued within Tatkaal period.”
   
Prohibited to use satellite phones in India

High Commission of India Kuala LumpurAdvisory on prohibition of the use of Satellite phone services in India
The High Commission of India would like to give the following Advisory for the information of all persons wishing to travel to India. The High Commission requests all visa applicants to carefully read the Advisory for a safe and pleasant stay in India

Kindly note that satellite telephone services are not permitted in India. Under Section 6 of the Indian Wireless Act and Section 20 of Indian Telegraph Act, any person found holding satellite phone or using satellite phone can be arrested and prosecuted for the above offence. These laws apply to foreign nationals visiting India also. Accordingly, any foreign national visiting India found to be making unauthorized use of satellite telephone services as e.g. Thuraya and Irridium will be prosecuted and all the sets found in his/her possession will be seized.

The High Commission also requests that the above information may please be shared with friends, colleagues, business partners, family members etc, wishing to travel to India in order to avoid any situation leading to seizure of equipments, their detention and prosecution in India, for unauthorized use of Satellite telephone services under the Indain Laws.

17 May 2012: Likely delay in delivery of Consular/Passport Services

14 February 2012: Attestation of EMI Contracts under Amnesty Scheme, 2011

With effect from 15 February, 2012, The High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur has authorised The India Passport and Other Consular Services Application Centre to accept all applications for EMI Contracts of Indian workers for attestation under the Foreign Workers 6P Programme (Amnesty Scheme, 2011).
