Update on Import of Satellite Phones into India
Use of any kind of satellite telephone in India is permissible only after obtaining a prior license from Department of Telecommunications (DOT-Government of India). Persons arriving in India and importing satellite telephones through baggage are required to declare these on arrival. Satellite phones declared to Indian customs will be allowed clearance only after production of a license issued by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India.
Unauthorized use of satellite phones in India attracts penal provisions of the Indian Telegraph Act and Indian Wireless Act. Persons found using their satellite phones without license will be prosecuted and such unauthorized satellite phones found in their possession will be seized.

Introduction of Biometrics, Appointment for physical submission of application for Visa, Passport, OCI and Consular Services.

Applications by Mail (Visa Only): Applicants wish to send the application by post must select UK- London” as Mission, while completing the application form online for their Visa. Please Click Here for detailed information. All Postal applications (Visa Only) must be sent to our Hounslow Application Centre only. Applications sent to any other office will be returned without processing. VFS Global will not be responsible for any loss of documents sent to any other office. The processing time for postal applications will be a minimum of 2-3 weeks from the date of receipt of complete applications. This excludes the processing time of the applications at the Mission. It is further clarified that incomplete/incorrect applications would be returned. To avoid any inconvenience, it is strongly advised to submit applications with prior online appointment in person or through authorised nominee. Please click here to download the authorization form.

Re-entry into India within the 2 month restriction for tourist visas
This is for information that restriction of TWO months gap between two visits has been removed by the Government of India for all nationals except Pakistani Nationals from 04 December 2012. This stipulation of two months gap no longer applies.
Validity of Visa
The validity of the visa begins from the date it is issued and not from the date of your departure mentioned on the application form. This must be kept in mind before applying, and it is strongly advised that no travel arrangements/confirmations should be made before the visa is issued, as no refund of any lost amounts will be possible.
Introduction of "e-Tourist Visa (eTV)"
In order to facilitate bonafide foreign tourists who plan their tours at a short notice, the Government of India has decided to introduce "e- Tourist Visa (eTV)" for a period of one year with immediate effect for citizen of 44 countries. For the list of countries please click here
Citizens of these countries are eligible to apply for “e- Tourist Visa (eTV)"with a maximum validity of 30 days with Single Entry facility from the Immigration Officer at Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi ,Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Trivandrum only. The said ”e- Tourist Visa (eTV)"can neither be extended nor converted to any other kind of visa during his/her stay in India except in certain exceptional circumstances. In view of the spread of the Swine Influenza A (H1N1) all passengers travelling to India will be screened at the International Airports in India on their arrival and required to carry the declaration form (Health Card) at Immigration. This may also involve quarantine and even hospitalisation, if detected with any symptoms connected with the flu.
