WHAT IS A UNIFORM SCHENGEN VISA?
It is a permit which is required to enter and remain in Schengen area for a short period of time. A visa is time-limited and could be issued for a maximum stay of 90 days in a six month period.
A visa granted by any of the Schengen countries is also valid for visits to the others. (In exceptional cases, the visa may only be valid for entry into the issuing country or only for certain countries if the holder’s passport is not approved by all the Schengen countries).

DO I NEED A SCHENGEN VISA?
If you are an Indonesian nationals holding ordinary passport, service passports, diplomatic passports, you are required to have a Schengen visa prior to your visit in Italy. For other nationality, kindly visit this page to find out whether you need a Schengen visa to go to Italy.

TO WHICH COUNTRIES CAN I TRAVEL ON THE BASIS OF MY UNIFORM SCHENGEN VISA?
AUSTRIA, BELGIUM, CZECH REPUBLIC, DENMARK, ESTONIA, FINLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, GREECE, HUNGARY, ICELAND, ITALY, LATVIA, LIECHTENSTEIN, LITHUANIA, LUXEMBOURG, MALTA, NETHERLANDS, NORWAY, POLAND, PORTUGAL, SLOVAKIA, SLOVENIA, SPAIN, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR A SCHENGEN VISA IN JAKARTA?
Indonesian nationals and third-country nationals who are legally residing in Indonesia or Timor Leste. Kindly ascertain that you are eligible to submit your visa application. For Indonesian nationals, usually this information is located on the last page of your passport.

WHICH MEMBER STATE IS COMPETENT FOR EXAMINING AND DECIDING ON MY VISA APPLICATION?
The Member State competent for examining and deciding on an application for a uniform visa shall be:
(a) The Member State whose territory constitutes the sole destination of the visit(s).
(b) If the visit includes more than one destination, the Member State whose territory constitutes the main destination of the visit(s) in terms of the length or purpose of stay.
(c) If no main destination can be determined, the Member State whose external border the applicant intends to cross in order to enter the territory of the Member States.

WHERE CAN I LODGE MY APPLICATION?
Applications can be either lodged directly at consular/visa office in Jakarta or to the Italian Visa Application Centre. All application submissions are appointment based only. To obtain the appointment please click the menu “Schedule an Appointment” on the left side column of this website. If you prefer not to use the service provided by the Italy Visa Application Centre, you can lodge your visa application directly to the Visa Office of the Embassy of Italy in Jakarta following these procedure.
Visa applications for the categories specified below have to be submitted directly to the Embassy of Italy, Jl. Diponegoro 45 Menteng 10310 Jakarta, from Monday to Thursday, from 11.00 – 12.00:
1. Short stay and Long stay visa for spouse of European Union citizen.
2. Family Reunion Visa for foreign nationals holding a residence permit in Italy
3. Subordinate work
4. Study Visa
5. Diplomatic Visa

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY APPLICATION IS LODGED WITH THE MEMBER STATE THAT IS NOT COMPETENT FOR EXAMINING AND DECIDING ON MY VISA?
When an application has been lodged, the Member State verifies whether it is competent to examine and decide on it. If the Member State is not competent, it shall, without delay, return the application form and any documents submitted by the applicant, reimburse the visa fee, and indicate which Member State is competent.

WHEN CAN AN APPLICATION BE LODGED?
A visa application should be lodged at least 15 calendar days before the intended visit and cannot be lodged earlier than three months before the start of the intended visit.
Visa processing time normally will take around 5-8 working days, however during certain high season period it might take longer than usual. In any case Applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days of the date of the lodging of an application which is admissible.
That period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.
An application lodged less than 5 calendar days before the intended departure may be accepted, but the processing time may be take more than 5 days and the decision might be taken AFTER the intended date of departure.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to take necessary precautions to respect the deadlines where an appointment system is in place.
A Holder of a multiple-entry visa valid for a period of at least six month may lodge the application for a new visa before the expiry of the validity of the visa currently held. However, the validity of the new visa must complement the current visa, a person cannot hold two uniform visas valid for the same period if time.

The visa fee is collected in cash at the VFS application centre at the time of handing in the application and is not refundable.

Submission at the Visa Application Centre - it is mandatory to schedule an appointment to submit your Short Stay application.

Step 2
Book an appointment to visit Visa Application Centre (Mandatory): To avoid waiting time due to high volume of applicants applying at the same time, we strongly recommend you book an appointment before visiting the Visa Application Centre. Step 3
Submit your application: Visit Visa Application Centre as per appointment scheduled and submit your completed Visa Application Forms along with required supporting documents.

Step 4
Pay applicable Fee: Please check ‘Visa Fee’ table provided under the visa category you are applying for. Visa Application Centre accepts the fee in CASH ONLY. Submission Officer at the Visa Application Centre will advise you on total payable amount in local currency only (IDR). A receipt will be provided for all payments made at the Centre.
