Schengen Visa Information:
A Schengen visa has to be obtained from the Embassy of the country where the MAIN PURPOSE OF TRAVEL lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before applying at the Italy Visa Application Centre in Nairobi.
In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please apply to the Embassy of the country where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the number of days to be spent in multiple countries is the same, you must apply to the embassy of the country which will be your first point of entry.
If you plan to apply for a Schengen visa at the Italy Visa Application Centre, your main destination and the maximum period of stay in the Schengen area must be mainly in Italy. Please provide proof to support this information.

Required Travel Insurance

A medical insurance is compulsory for visitors to Italy and other Schengen states. The insurance must cover at least 30 000 Euros and include costs for medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation due to injury or medical reasons.

The reimbursement from the insurance company must be payable in any EU-country, Switzerland and Lichtenstein.

The company issuing the insurance can be based anywhere but preferably you should use a company base in your home country or the country you are travelling to. The Embassy must asses whether the company is solid or not. For this purpose all Schengen Missions in Nairobi have compiled a list of trusted companies. If you use a company that has not been assessed by the Schengen Missions the handling time of your application will be at least 30 days.

Please note that you have to bring your travel insurance with you when travelling due to inspections of relevant documents at the border control when entering the Schengen area.
