All About Your Visa
All foreigners intending to enter Italy must provide the documentation required to justify the reasons and duration of their stay as well as, in some prescribed cases, the availability of adequate economic means and lodging.

In some cases you need a visa, application for which can be made at the Italian Diplomatic and Consular Representations in your country of residence.

Required documents for all visa categories

All of documents must be translated in English

1 visa application form(SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATION FORM)
2 Visa Fee, please check for details
3 recent passport-style photo
4 HOST DECLARATION.pdf
5 passport or travel document valid for at least six months after visa expiry date and 2 copy of first pages
6 return-trip booking or ticket or proof of available means of personal transport
7 proof of available lodging in Italy: tourist vouchers, hotel booking, offer of hospitality(click here)
8 proof of economic means of support, as per Ministry of Interior Directive 1.3.2000(click here) ( Book bank or bank statement must be update within 7 days before applying visa)
9 documentation of socio-professional standing
10 Travel insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for emergency hospital and repatriation expenses

Please note that:

For underage children traveling with a single parent: a written consent of the other parent is required; birth certificate and
the authorization of the change of the surname ( if changed).
Consent lettet have to issue from district  
For applicants holding non Thai passport: work permit and re-entry visa are necessary ( must be valid 1 month after arrival date)

The Embassy of Italy reserves its right to request additional documents.
All documents must be update not more than 1 month

Required Travel Insurance

A medical insurance is compulsory for visitors to Italy and other Schengen states. You may provide either a policy from an insurance company based in Europe or in Thailand. Please note that only certain insurance companies in Thailand are accepted. The insurance must cover at least 30 000 Euro or 1 500 000 Baht and include costs for medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation due to injury or medical reasons. The insurance must be valid in all Schengen states and cover the total length of the visit.

The reimbursement from the insurance company must be payable in any EU-country, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. The insurance certificate must be shown when the application is submitted. Please note that you have to bring your travel insurance with you when travelling due to inspections of relevant documents at the border control when entering the Schengen area.

Important information for foreigners
1. When entering Italy, even if you have already obtained a visa, the border authorities are authorised to check the documentation required for obtaining the visa itself.
2. Pursuant to article 4, paragraph 2 of Consolidated Text no. 286/98 and subsequent amendments, concomitant with the issuance of your visa you will receive a written communication from the diplomatic or consular authority illustrating the rights and obligations associated with your entrance and stay in Italy, with particular regard to the procedures envisaged for requesting a "Permesso di soggiorno" (permission to stay) or the issuance of a "Dichiarazione di presenza" (statement of presence).

The visa fee is collected in cash at the VFS application centre at the time of handing in the application.

For applications submitted in person at the Visa Application Centre – it is mandatory to schedule an appointment to submit your Short Stay application, but you may schedule one if you would prefer to. Please click on the link to make an appointment Schedule Appointment

Step 1
Applications for Italy visa (Short-stay) are accepted at the Visa Application Centres.

Step 2
Before applying, please ensure you are very clear on your ‘purpose of visit’ – do remember we are here to assist and help you through the entire visa application process but are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. Since our work is primarily administrative in nature, we have no say on whether you will be granted a visa and how long it will take to process your application, as this is entirely the prerogative of the Embassy or Consulate.
