Long Term Visa (MVV)
In case you intend to stay for a continuous period of longer than 90 days in the Netherlands, you will need a temporary residence permit (MVV). Applications for an MVV cannot be submitted at VFS and have to be submitted directly at the Embassy of the Netherlands. The Embassy of the Netherlands has to obtain approval for the issuance of a temporary residence permit from the immigration authorities in the Netherlands. It is important that you apply for the temporary residence permit at least 3 (three) months prior to your intended stay in the Netherlands.
Your sponsor can also start the procedure for your MVV application in the Netherlands. If you choose to start your MVV application in the Netherlands you are advised to wait for the decision. The embassy needs to receive the decision before your file can be processed. Your sponsor will be informed by the IND about the result on your application. Once there is a decision you can arrange an appointment to present yourself at the embassy.
