Welcome to the website for the New Zealand Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Pretoria. Important information regarding visas:

The New Zealand VAC in Pretoria is authorized by Immigration New Zealand (INZ) to receive applications for temporary entry visas for New Zealand, to collect visa application fees on INZ’s behalf and to return passports to applicants after a determination on the visa application has been made by INZ officers. The New Zealand Visa Application Centre will also collect additional documents requested by the INZ and forward them to the INZ Pretoria Branch.

Please note that all applications will be assessed and decided by immigration officers at the INZ branch in Pretoria in accordance with certified New Zealand Immigration Instructions.

Staff members of the New Zealand Visa Application Centre in Pretoria provide facilitation services only. Although they provide information about submitting an application for a visa they cannot provide immigration advice and have no influence on the outcome of an application for a visa for New Zealand.

If potential applicants wish to receive immigration advice, they should contact a licensed immigration adviser or immigration lawyer at www.iaa.govt.nz or www.lawsociety.org.nz.

Visa Application Process
Applicants are requested to read the following steps carefully before submitting their application at the New Zealand Visa Application Centre in Pretoria.

VAC Service Fee
In addition to an application fee, there is a ZAR 490 VAC service fee that is payable per application lodged at the New Zealand Visa Application Centre.

To avoid delays please ensure you read the following steps carefully:

Applications can be made by applicants or their representatives.

Applicants in South Africa can submit their applications in person at the New Zealand VAC in Pretoria, between 0800 – 1230 and 1330 - 1500 (Monday – Friday) - except on public holidays as outlined in the Public Holiday list.

Step 1 : Make a clear copy of all original documents, and two clear copies of the passport photo page.
Step 2 : Complete the visa application form and document checklist. You can download the application form here, and the checklists here. Please check here for the correct Visa Fee
Step 3 : Please refer to the ‘Important News & Notices’ section on the right side of this page for any relevant updated information or notices before applying.
Step 4 : Pay your Visa Fee and VFS Service Fee of ZAR 490 per application as well as any additional Value Added Services such as Courier Return or SMS tracking (refer to Additional Services) using the following modes of payments:
1. Payment in-person at the Visa Application Centre through a credit/debit card
2. Off-line Credit /Cheque Card – If you are unable to come to our Visa Application Centre in-person, you may provide us with your Credit/Debit Card details (Only MasterCard and VISA accepted) by means of an authorization letter to be completed and either presented by your authorized representative or e-mailed to info.nzza@vfshelpline.com
3. Cash Deposit into our bank account – applicants MUST provide their Passport Number, Name, and Contact Telephone Number as reference details.

Step 5 : If you wish to have a friend or relative collect your documents on your behalf, please note that the VAC will require an authorization letter from yourself outlining the details of the person you have nominated. On collection, the nominated person must produce evidence of identification.
If you would like to have your passport and documents delivered back to your South African address, please inform the officer when you submit your application. An Additional courier fee of ZAR 150 per application will be charged.

Applications for residents of other African Countries can be submitted to the VAC in Pretoria, South Africa. If you require your passport and/or documents to be returned, you MUST provide a pre-paid International courier envelope for their return. It is not necessary to submit the application in person

Step 4 : Make sure when you pack your application to be sent to the VAC it includes:
  Completed Application Form with signature
  Completed checklist with requested Supporting Documents
  Signed Declaration Form
  The copy of the bank remittance record
  Clear return address for courier delivery when your passport is returned
Step 5 : Please send an email to info.nzza@vfshelpline.com confirming documents have been sent, and include the following:
  The scanned copy of the Airway Bill or the tracking number that you used to post your documents
  The bank remittance record
  Applicants’ details – this is so the VAC can check the whereabouts of your application and confirm when it arrives.
Step 6 : If the postal application is received and payment confirmed before 13:00hrs, the application will be forwarded by the Visa Application Centre to INZ Pretoria Branch on the next working day. If the couriered application is received after 13:00hrs and payment confirmed, then the application will be forwarded to INZ Pretoria Branch on the next working day.
Step 7 : The checklist will be verified by VAC staff. If there are any documents missing you will be advised by email which documents are missing and this email will be copied to INZ. The application will be forwarded to INZ and they will either request that you provide the missing documents, or may be returned to you un-assessed.
Step 8 : An invoice cum receipt (ICR) will be generated by the VAC. The original ICR will be returned to you with your documents once the application is completed. An ICR / your application reference number will be sent to you by email for online tracking.
Step 9 : If the full visa fee is not remitted we will inform you via email with a copy to INZ. We will only proceed with your application once we have received the balance of the fee. (Please remember to scan the payment receipt and email to the Visa Application Centre to inform)

Note: New Zealand VAC takes no responsibility for loss of documents in Courier Transit.

To avoid delays please ensure you read the following steps carefully:


Please ensure that when sending your application to the VAC you use a door-to-door courier service. Sending documents by mail / post is not entirely safe and may take a while to reach the VAC.

Once your application has been processed by INZ Pretoria, you will be informed to arrange collection of your passport and any originals. These documents can be collected in person at the VAC (if you are in Pretoria), by a nominated person or by courier.

If you wish to have a friend or relative collect your documents on your behalf, please note that the VAC will require an authorization letter from yourself outlining the details of the person you have nominated. On collection, the nominated person must produce evidence of identification.

Couriers are required to provide (on collection) a fully completed air waybill confirming the name, surname and client reference number of the passport holder.

To protect the interests of the passport holder, we will not be able to release any passport / documents if at least one of the above is not met.

Note: Should you fail to contact the VAC and arrange collection of your documents within two months from the date you have been notified of your visa decision, INZ Pretoria may send your documents to the nearest issuing authority e.g. South African home office or foreign embassy based in Pretoria.
