If you wish to apply for a visa to visit Spain, please read the information on this site carefully. Guidelines listed on this site will help you to prepare your application as accurately as possible and to avoid submitting an incomplete application.

The Embassy of Spain in Cairo has outsourced appointment scheduling for Schengen visas. The Visa Call and Information Centre has no impact on the outcome of the visa decision or the processing time.

1. Where to apply

- The country competent for examining and deciding on an application for a Schengen visa shall be:
the country whose territory constitutes the sole destination of the visit(s);
if the visit includes more than one destination, the country whose territory constitutes the main destination of the visit(s) in terms of the length or purpose of stay;
or if no main destination can be determined, the country whose external border the applicant intends to cross in order to enter the territory of the Schengen area.
- Schengen Area: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
- Non‐residents (Egyptian or non‐Egyptian nationals) cannot apply in Egypt; they must apply at their country of residence
- Holders of Egyptian Diplomatic, Service or Special passports for up to 90 days in a semester do not need a Schengen visa for Spain.

2. Location

- Apply at VFS Global only if your permanent address is in one of the following Governorates: Cairo, Giza, Faiyum, Ismailia, Minya, New Valley, Suez, Luxor, Aswan, Asyut, Beni Suef, Port Said, South Sinai, North Sinai, Qena, Red Sea, Sohag and Qalyubia.
- Apply at the Consulate General of Spain in Alexandria ( 03-3939185, fax 03-3922226) if your permanent address is in one of the following Governorates: Alexandria, Matruh, Beheira, Dakahlia,Damietta, Gharbia, Kafr el Sheikh, Menufia and Sharquia.

1. General Information

- Applicants shall appear in person when lodging an application
- Processing your visa may take from seven calendar days up to two weeks. The Embassy of Spain does not guarantee an answer to your visa request in less than 15 days.
- To check the status of your visa application, visit
- No information about status of visa will be given by telephone or email.
- You can pick‐up your passport in person from VFS Global premises. ( 02‐ 3332 3000)
- The short-stay visa does not automatically entitle to enter the Schengen area. At border (or during other controls) applicant may have to show the visa but also provide additional documentation, for example information on that the applicant has sufficient means to cover the stay and the return trip.
- The Embassy of Spainmay require a personal interview prior to a decision being taken on your application.
- Where fingerprints collected from the applicant as part of an earlier application were entered into the system for the first time less than 59 months before the date of the new application, applicant is not required to provide them again. If necessary, the Embassy of Spain always reserves the right to request the applicant to provide fingerprints again.
- Applications shall be lodged no more than three months before the start of the intended visit. Holders of a multiple-entry visa may lodge the application before the expiry of the visa valid for a period of at least six months.

2 Steps

Step 1 : Prepare your application and supporting documents: Go to ‘All about your visas’ link on this website and find out details related to the visa category you want to apply for.
Step 2 : Book an appointment to visit the Visa Application Centre. More details available under Schedule an Appointment. Before applying, please ensure you are very clear on your purpose of visit.
You will be receiving an email and SMS on mobile number given by you within the 1 hour from submitting your appointment included verification Code to be entered on Manual OTP, if you didn’t confirm your appointment, your appointment will be canceled automatically and you won’t be able to submit your documents and you won’t be able to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Step 3 : Submit your application: Visit the Visa Application Centre as per appointment scheduled and submit your completed Visa Application Form along with required supporting documents.
Step 4 : Pay applicable Fee: Please check ‘Visa Fee’ table provided under the visa category you are applying for. Visa Application Centre accepts the fee in cash only. Submission Officer at the Visa Application Centre will advise you on total payable amount in local currency only (EGP). A receipt will be provided for all payments made at the Centre.
Please ensure you read the security regulation  before you visit the Visa Application Centre. Please visit our website to check the most recent visa fees . The processing  fee will not be returned even if the visa is not granted or cancelled.

3 Track Your Application Online
After submission of documents at the Visa Application Centre, you can also check status of your application online by simply providing the unique VAC Reference Number and your Date of Birth. VAC reference number (starts with SPCR) can be found on the receipt provided by the Submission Officer at the application centre at the time of submission.
