The Embassy of Spain in India and the Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai issue Schengen visa for Spain which also allows the holder to travel within the Schengen territory. Schengen visa issued by the Spanish Consulate gives access to all the 24 Schengen countries. In case the applicant intends to visit various Schengen countries, the country responsible to issue the relevant visa for the entire duration of the trip, including for other Schengen countries will be determined in the following order: - Main destination.

Applicants are free to apply up to 90 days prior to their date of travel. However, all applications must be submitted at least 15 days prior to the proposed date of travel to accommodate any unforeseen processing delays. |

Once the application is considered complete, the processing time would be between 5 and 10 working days. Applicants can walk-in any working day at VFS application centre during the specified submission timings. Applicants will be asked to take a token at the entrance and be seated in the waiting area (You can approach our Submission Counters when your token number is displayed). Our officers at the counter will collect your visa application form to check that the documents are complete and your photograph meets the required specifications. Your passport will be checked for validity empty pages and previous travel information. Your fees will be collected in accordance with the visa category you have chosen and the documents you submit will be checked in the manner in which they are required by the Consulate of Spain. You will be issued a receipt for the fees paid and given an acknowledgement for the submission of your passport. |

The Spain Visa Application Centre is an acceptance centre and, as such, is not authorized to advise/recommend any visa type to a prospective applicant. The applicant will have to find out the visa category he/she is eligible for based on the purpose of travel. He /she can do so by visiting ALL ABOUT YOUR VISAS. |

After deciding the eligible visa category applicants can visit the Spain Visa Application Centre’s website www.vfsglobal.com/spain/india to check the recommended documents for the Visa category they have chosen. Photocopies are recommended as documents will not be returned. Submit originals only where specified. |

- Contact details of the travel agents in charge of the applications.
- Contact details of the travelers and purpose of the visit.

- Official and final list of the applicants including their complete name, in alphabetic order, and their passport’s number.

If your application is not accompanied by the documents that are requested by the Embassy of Spain in India and the Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai, you will be asked if you wish to proceed with the application without all the requested documents. Should you consent to this, your application will be registered in our system and accepted for further processing. Once your application has been registered in our system, you will be issued a receipt for the fees you have paid and it would be possible to track your visa at www.vfsglobal.com/spain/india. |

Every visa application needs to be accompanied by a visa fee for the amount applicable to your chosen visa category. This needs to be paid in cash. |

If the Embassy of Spain in India or the General Consulate of Spain in Mumbai are unable to return the application to you because they would like to request additional documents, schedule you for a personal interview or require additional time to correspond with Home Office, this update is normally sent in a letter individually addressed to the applicant, and remains at the Spain Visa Application Centre until collected by the applicant or an authorized representative. |

As an application centre, the Spain Visa Application Centre will not be able to guarantee you a visa. The issuance or refusal of a visa is the sole prerogative of the Embassy of Spain in India and the Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai. The Spain Visa Application Centre cannot influence this decision in anyway. |

If your passport is with the Embassy or Consulate and you have interim travel plans, please prepare a covering letter which has your contact and passport information. In this covering letter please mention the reason as to why you would like your passport back in the interim and submit the same at the Spain Visa Application Centre. Along with this letter, a form needs to be completed and submitted at the Application Centre. Once your travel is complete, please return your passport to permit your application processing. Should you wish to withdraw your application completely, please follow the same process but mention that you would like to withdraw your application completely. We would like to inform you that your fees will not be refunded at any stage.

You are free to reapply at anytime if your application has been refused earlier. There is no time gap to be observed after a refusal to make a fresh application. However, it is recommended that you note the reasons for the earlier refusal before submitting a new application and make amendments where applicable. Reapplying a visa implies payment of the visa fee again. |

The applicant can appeal against the rejection of his/her visa application. The appeal must be submitted as per the conditions mentioned in the rejection letter. It must be signed in original by the applicant and the same submitted along with new documents that the applicant may consider appropriate to request reconsideration of the decision.
