Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

This visa is for temporary entry of people for tourism or business visitor purposes.

There are two streams which can be applied for outside Australia:

Tourist stream

For people to visit Australia temporarily for a holiday, to visit relatives or friends or for other short-term non-work purposes, including study for less than three months.

Business Visitor stream

For applicants seeking to engage in business visitor activities including:

  • Making general business or government enquiries,
  • Contract negotiations,
  • Government visits
  • Attending conferences, seminars, job interviews or professional examinations

Online Visa

Some nationalities are eligible to apply a Visitor visa (Subclass 600), Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)(Subclass 601) and eVisitor (Subclass 651) online, please click here for details.

The Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) does not permit supplying goods or services, nor other work of any kind, other than the business activities indicated above. If your proposed activity involves working in Australia, even for a brief period, see the information about the Temporary Work (Short Stay Activity) Visa (Subclass 400).

If you are not eligible to apply online for an ETA or eVisitor, or online for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600), a paper application for the Visitor Visa (subclass 600) application may be lodged in Jakarta or Bali at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC). Kindly be advised that there is a VFS Logistic Service charge per passport, as below:

Citizenship by Descent and Australian Declaratory Visa applications – no biometrics required

VFS Logistic Fee per passport is levied over and above the Visa Fee.

You are not required to personally visit AVAC to lodge your Visa application. You may opt for our courier service to have us pick up your documents from the comfort of your own home or office.

Terms and condition:

  1. Kindly be informed that VFS Logistic fee and other optional additional service fees are non-refundable if the visa application is refused, withdrawn, and or if the optional service(s) are cancelled by the applicant.
  2. The original VFS payment receipt should be handed over during the collection of visa application result. If the original receipt was lost, kindly provide a statement letter from the primary applicant along with his/her copy of ID.

Photo Specifications

Attach one photograph on the front of your visa application form.

The photograph must be:

  • No more than 6 months old
  • 4.5cm X 3.5cm
  • Colored photo with plain background of any color
  • Taken looking straight forward and face seen clearly

Processing Time

Visa Processing Time Service Standards

Australian Visa application processing times vary because the condition of each application is different; some application cases may be more complex than others, although the visa category applied for is the same. Where a visa applicant requires a medical examination or x-ray, the processing time may vary significantly. Therefore, applicants are requested to carefully calculate the processing time, in order to plan the travel dates and schedule the visa submission wisely.
