HOW TO APPLY

This site is applicable to all applicants who are eligible to apply for an Australian visa in Thailand.

For Prospective Applicants

If you wish to apply for an Australian visa, kindly read the information on this site carefully. This will facilitate accurate submission of your applications.

You can contact us at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) Helpdesk at: +662 118 7100 (Monday – Friday except Embassy Holidays) between 08:30 to 16:30. For further details, please refer to Contact Us section.

Please also note that if you are not a Thai citizen or resident, you may still apply at the Australian Visa Application Centre in Bangkok, however the Australian Embassy, Bangkok  may need to transfer your application to another Australian Embassy (High commission or Consulate-General). This may take additional time and you will not collect the decision from AVAC.

Visa Application Process

 

Step 1

To avoid delays when lodging your visa application you should include the following:

  • Completed visa application form

    Photograph

    • 1 photograph for temporary visa , 2 photographs for permanent visa
      A Photograph facility is available at Australian Visa Application Centre at a nominal additional charge

  • Original Passport

  • A clear photocopy of all stamped pages

  • 2 Clear photocopies of the data page of passport (passport page with photo)

  • Visa Application Charge (VAC) see: Visa Fees at Glance

  • Supporting documents required for your application as advised by the Australian Embassy Bangkok available under the relevant ‘Visa Types’ link. VFS Service charge (including VAT) for all visa types Additional charges apply for SMS and courier services.

Step 2

The prior online appointment for application submission is a mandatory requirement with effect on 1 November 2017

You may book your appointment by clicking one of below links, depending on your case/preference:

  1. Appointment for Individual- you may book an appointment here, if you personally arranged for your application or if you do not travel in large group. The system will allow maximum of 6 applicants per booking, depending on slot availability.
  2. Appointment for Group/ Travel Agency- if you are in a group of 9 and above or a travel agent is booking for a group; you may send to appointmentsagent.auth@vfshelpline.com.

  3. VIP Premium Lounge- Enjoy express security screening, no queuing, comfort and privacy, personalised attention and service during the submission and biometric process, free refreshments and snacks, free courier pass-back, free photocopy and passport photo, free SMS & Email status alerts. You may choose “Premium lounge” in the category dropdown.
  4. Biometric Only- If you have submitted an online application and you received biometric letter from Home Affairs, you may book an appointment by choosing “BIOMETRIC ONLY” in the dropdown. Please DO NOT schedule an appointment until a biometric letter is received, as VFS will not be able to accept your appointment without this letter.

Please ensure you arrive at the centre 15 minutes before your appointment time.

Important note for visa applicants:

To make a valid application, applicants must lodge a complete and signed application form for the appropriate visa class, pay the appropriate visa application charge. Application forms for persons aged less than 18 years must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

All supporting documents and information should be submitted together with the application. Any documents that are not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation (for Migration cases).

To avoid possible delays, you should include all relevant information and additional documentation in support of your application at the time of lodgement (Documents required see the checklist available under the relevant visa category).

If you do not provide all the specified documentation at the time you lodge your application a decision may be made on the basis of the available information. Australian migration legislation permits a decision to be taken at any time after the application has been lodged.

Biometrics Collections

As part of the biometrics collection, a photo of you will be taken. You need to remove large or coloured contact lenses before this photo is taken.

Presences of parent or guardian are required for the less than 16 years of age applicants at the time of Biometric data collection

Step 3

Your passport will be returned to you at the day of lodgement at Australian Visa Application Centre after the submission and biometrics collection process done.

Step 4

Decision and Document Return
