Transit visa

This visa allows you only a transit in the international zone or in the zone under the authority of the customs at the airport. It does not allow you to leave the airport.

To avoid any disappointment, applicants are advised to submit their complete files at least 15 working days before the intended date of departure.

Applicant's exempted from visa fee:

• Child less than 6 years of age applying for short term visa.
• The spouse, children who have not yet reached their 21st birthday and dependent parents of a Belgian or other EU citizen are not required to pay the visa fee.
• school pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training;
• researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research as defined in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 to facilitate the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research ( 1 );
• researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research as defined in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 to facilitate the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research ( 1 );

• The applicable visa fee in Naira is as per current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice.
• Visa fee and service fee needs to be paid by POS in the application centre, Lagos and Abuja
• The visa fee is non refundable and non transferable.
• The visa application fee submitted and cancelled on same application day would be refundable but non transferable.

Please bring with you all of the following:

1. A passport or official travel document that is recognized by the Schengen country(ies) you intend to visit, valid for at least three months following the date of expiry of the requested visa.
2. One legibly and fully completed application form, dated and signed.
3. Two (2) recent colour passport pictures (full face, no dark glasses).
4. A valid visa for the country of destination is required.
5. For first time travelers, if the destination is not the US, UK, Canada, Ireland or Switzerland: invitation letter and proof of the reason for traveling to the country of destination.

Applicants are requested to submit their Application form with the new photo format, as explained below.

Sample Photograph:

General

• The photograph for each visa applicant must be an unmounted, full face photo, as displayed above
• The photograph must have been taken within the last six months.
• The photograph must be submitted glued to the application form

Photo Size

The photo for each visa applicant submitted must measure:

• 3.5 cms x 4.5 cms with the head centered in the frame.
• The head (measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin) should measure about 3 cms

Photo Appearance

• The photograph must be a full-face front view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly.
• Face should cover about 60-70 percent of the photo area.
• The photograph MUST be in color and have only a white background. Photos with dark, busy, or patterned backgrounds will not be accepted.
• General, the applicant's head, including both face and hair, should be shown from the crown of the head to the tip of the chin on top and bottom and from hairline side-to-side. It is preferable that ears be exposed
• Photograph depicting a person wearing a traditional facemask or veil that does not permit adequate identification is not acceptable

All visa applications are being treated as fast as possible and according to the date of submission, the date of travel and the quality of the visa file. Applicants are therefore strongly recommended to apply timely and with a complete visa file
