06.01 Employee upskilling: The key to adapt to a dynamic environment

VFS Global has consistently focused on catering to customer expectations while continuing to be in sync with constantly evolving technologies. Our Learning and Organisation Development initiatives focus on investing in our people’s growth and empowering them with up-skilling opportunities, thereby enabling them to function in a dynamic environment.

Leadership Development Programme

The Leadership Development Programme (LDP) was conducted in India, from 8 to 13 October. The immersive and experiential workshop is tailored for select young leaders with the primary aim of facilitating an in-depth exploration and analysis of their belief systems.

Management Development Programme

This year, the Management Development Programme (MDP) provided 26 participants from 10 countries a platform to build their conceptual knowledge about Operations Management, Marketing & Sales, Technology, Finance Management, Business Strategy Deployment, and International Business Management.

Potential Development Centre

Potential Development Centre (PDC) focuses on development goals of employees. Participants are immersed in simulated business scenarios that mirror real-world business challenges, through gamified activities. From high-stake case studies to interactive business simulations and collaborative team activities, PDCs help participants to unlock their strengths, identify areas of growth and create a roadmap for success. Enabling employees to understand their competencies and evaluate their preparedness for greater roles has been the driving force for our PDC. In the recent months, over 130 employees have undergone PDCs in 11 batches conducted at Manager to Deputy General Manager level in locations across GSO, South Asia, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia.

Core Business Programme - Finance Management in partnership with IIT Bombay

The Core Business Programme was launched in August. Designed in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, a premier institute in Mumbai, the programme aims to provide insights into managerial concepts and techniques relevant for formulating and implementing strategies in various functional areas. The first batch was conducted for employees from GSO Mumbai and the South Asia region, focusing on Financial Management. Over the next few months, more batches will be held for various regions about other functional skills such as Digital Transformation, Information Technology, Business Strategy, HR, Legal, etc.

Language Trainings

Language Training Programmes were launched for our employees across regions to improve their communication skills. These programmes are designed to help them strengthen their reading, listening, and speaking skills and enable them to communicate with clients and co-workers across regions.

English Language Training Programme

Former Miss India and supermodel Mehr Jesia conducts the English Language Training Programme session

The English Language Training Programme has been launched for employees to enhance their English communication skills enabling seamless interaction with their stakeholders. To optimise the programme, participants undergo an assessment based on CEFR scoring system to identify their current level of proficiency. Basis this score, batches are designed at relevant levels to help them strengthen their reading, listening, and speaking skills. Over the last quarter, 100+ employees from Russia, North Africa and Turkey, South Asia and Middle East attended this programme.

Arabic Language Training Programme

The Arabic Language Training programme was launched for employees to learn Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) language skills and enable them to communicate with clients and co-workers across the regions. It focuses on developing proficiency in reading Arabic language. Employees from Middle East, GSO and South Asia have undergone this training.

French Language Training Programme

This programme is designed as a beginner-level course to improve and strengthen industry- related communication skills and competencies in reading, writing, listening as well as speaking. Employees from Africa, Russia and Middle East have attended this programme.

Styling – Acing the Perfect Corporate Look

To help employees understand the fundamentals of professional dressing and grooming in a corporate environment, an exclusive styling session was conducted in South Asia. Conducted by Mehr Jesia, former Miss India and styling expert, participants learnt about various tools and techniques to enhance their professional presence. Over 250 employees attended this session.

LGBTQAI+ Awareness Session

Participants at the LGBTQAI+ Awareness Session

An LGBTQAI+ Awareness Session was held for employees of Australasia. It focused on the diversity of sexual orientation, gender and bodies in the context of culture and the workplace. It is aligned with our core areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), employee well-being, and supporting our reputation.

Workshop On Inclusion

Participants at the Inclusion Workshop

HR team members attended a workshop aimed at creating awareness about the importance of inclusion, practical tools, strategies for promoting it within our teams and across the organisation and recognising and mitigating biases. The first batch, which was conducted in September at GSO, Mumbai, was attended by 60 participants.

Disrupting Unconscious Bias

As part of this programme, employees in Europe learnt how to develop a deeper understanding of implicit and unconscious bias, how it may impact customer experience and ways to manage it in their day-to-day functioning.

MS Excel Certification Course

Participants at the MS Excel Certification Course

This 12-hour certification programme enabled learners in South Asia to build simple and complex formulas, create spreadsheets, powerful charts and much more. 60+ employees enrolled for this programme.

Presentation Skills Programme

10 Senior leaders attended this programme in Dubai, which was led by Dusty Amroliwala and Peter Strachan and provided participants with valuable insights, hands-on practice, and essential tools and techniques to make impeccable presentations.

Advance Excel Training Programme

Employees from GSO attended this programme where they learnt about the Excel interface and basic functionality, essential formulas, functions, data analysis, how to visualise data effectively and automate tasks with macros.
