Resident permit and work

Steps to follow:

Step 1: Access the Migration Service website in Denmark.

Each applicant for residence permit MUST enter and download their form and requirements at click here to stablish the type of permit you need, you can go to here

Your application will be sent to the Danish Embassy in Bogotá who will send your case to Denmark migration services to process your residence permit application, for more information please see http://colombia.um.dk/es/servicio-consular/viajar- a-denmark / residence-and-work

Because there is a wide range of forms (depending on each case) for the application for residency in Denmark, neither the Embassy nor the providers of VFS Global services can advise on the filling of forms and / or on supporting documents.

Once the Danish migration service has made a decision made in Denmark about your application, we will contact you to pick up your passport, or we will send it to you by Courier at home if you have requested that service.

Step 2: Coordinate your appointment in our visa application center.

After finishing the first part of your application on www.newtodenmark.dk you will be asked to continue the process by taking your biometric data and submitting relevant documents at VFS. For this purpose you need to make an appointment. You should not contact the embassy for this purpose.

We inform you that your appointment must be PERSONALLY presented and your biometric data will be taken (fingerprints, facial recognition and electronic signature).

Step 3: There are no "minimum" requirements because there many residence application forms for different reasons; you should go to https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB to stablish the residence permit type you need and the corresponding form The applicant is responsible for obtaining all the information and submitting the necessary documents, please checks what’s needed on the “checklist” section of your application form.

If you have already filled out your application form and have already made the online payment by obtaining your Case Order ID from the Danish Migration Service, you can now request an appointment at VFS.

If you applied with ONLINE application form you must submit in VFS:

  • Online payment receipt with Case Order Id
  • Application voucher with online form
  • Original passport with at least three months of validity after the end of your residence period
  • Color copies of the entire passport including the cover (cartola or tapas)

If you applied with a printable application form (which you can fill out by hand) you must submit in VFS:

  • Online payment receipt with Case Order Id
  • Completed and signed application form
  • Support documents indicated on your application form (check which are in the form's check list)
  • Original passport with at least three months of validity after the end of your residence period
  • Color copies of the entire passport including the cover (cartola or tapas)
  • Payment of Consular fees, service fee and courier to Bogota

Step 4: Take into account that you must make four payments:

Online payment directly to the Danish migration Service on its website www.newtodenmark.dk. This will allow you to obtain a case order ID. You must submit the online payment print on the day of your appointment in our offices.

On the day of your appointment at VFS office, you will need to make the below payments:

  1. One visa fee payment USD$226
  2. One for VFS Global services USD$26,13

    Courier payment to Bogota, for this payment you have two options:

  3. Courier to Bogotá once per week dispatch USD$80
  4. Courier to Bogotá next day of your submission USD$100

*All payments described above need to be paid at the office in cash on the date of your appointment.
