AFTER SUBMISSION

Once you submit your application, you must wait until the Embassy has made a decision on your case. This process will take 10 working days. However, it may take longer in certain cases. Visa applications should be submitted at least 15 days before the intended date of travel.

You can track your application using the reference number on your receipt, which is issued to you on the day of your appointment. If you have opted for the SMS service you will be notified via SMS and email regarding the status of your application. The final SMS you will receive will inform you when the application is ready for collection in the Visa Application Centre, or if it is dispatched by courier.

Applicants may choose to collect their passport in person at the end of the visa application process, after having tracked online whether the passport is ready for collection or alternatively, being notified by VFS SMS service, which informs applicants when their passport is ready for collection.

Please ensure you bring your receipt with you when collecting your passport.

Passport Collection time is from Monday to Friday, except on Public Holidays/Closures (see here).

London – between 16:00 Hrs and 17:30 Hrs.

Manchester – between 14:00 Hrs and 15:00 Hrs.

Edinburgh – between 13:00 Hrs and 14:00 Hrs.

Applicants unable to collect in person may authorise another person to collect the passport on their behalf. The authorised person will need to bring an authorisation letter signed by the applicant, and proof of Identity with photo.

When the passport is handed back to the applicant or the authorised person, the authorisation letter, if any, will remain with VFS.

At the end of the passport collection process VFS requests that all applicants sign the Passport collection register

If you have opted for the Courier Service, your passport will be dispatched to you via DX Securemail.

You will be able to begin tracking your DX Securemail envelope on the day after you have been notified it is being dispatched to you from the Visa Application Centre. Please use the 10 digit number from the DX Securemail sticker on your receipt to track your envelope. Please go to the following DX Securemail website -

and enter your 10 digit DX tracking number and your postcode. Please call DX Securemail directly on the number provided on the website regarding any issues with delivery.
