How to submit a visa application?

If you are traveling to FRANCE and stay there for any period (short stay or long stay), you are kindly invited to follow the FRANCE-VISAS process:

  • Step 1. Research

    Before you start applying for a visa:

    • visit the official website FRANCE-VISAS
    • select the language of your choice
    • click on “1. Do I need a visa?” and answer the questions
    • FRANCE-VISAS will indicate whether you need a visa
    • if you do, an indicative list of required supporting and the amount of visa fees will be displayed

    Additional information is available under “General information” (including visa application guidelines), “Coming to France for…”, “Your arrival in France” and “FAQ”. It is recommended that you read this information before you start applying.

    You are kindly invited to check under “3. Submit your application”; select the relevant country; select “Particular situations” whether the process you have to follow is specific due to your personal situation.

  • Step 2. Apply

    • if you need a visa: create an account on France-Visas
    • select “2. Start your visa application” and fill in your visa application on-line (your visa application form will be automatically filled in and available for downloading and printing);
    • check the indicative amount of the visa fees (the amount in local currency may vary according to the consular exchange rate)

    At the end of the visa form filling process, you will be invited to validate the visa application and then book an appointment on VFS appointment module:

    • the page indicating how to book an appointment will be displayed;
    • click on the link to VFS appointment booking module
  • Step 3. Book an appointment

    • Select a Visa Application Centre and make an appointment: if you need any help, click on the question mark for more information
    • If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.
    • Once you’ve booked your appointment(s), you’ll receive an appointment confirmation email along with the letter of appointment.

    After you have scheduled an appointment, you are invited to go back to FRANCE-VISAS website to finalize your registration.

    • a registration receipt with a checklist of required supporting documents will be displayed: save it and print it;
    • your visa application form will be available for printing: save it and print it
  • Step 4. Visa fees

    • An indicative amount of the visa fees is mentioned on the Registration receipt
    • you will have to pay the service fees, in addition of the visa fees, at the Visa Application Centre, at the time of your appointment.
  • Step 5. At the VFS centre

    • Attend your scheduled appointment.
    • You’ll have to submit your complete visa application form at a Visa Application Centre in person, unless instructed otherwise.

    You have to bring:

    • the appointment letter that you have received attached to your email (you will not be admitted in the visa application centre without it)
    • The visa application form (printed after registering on FRANCE-VISAS)
    • The registration receipt (printed after registering on FRANCE-VISAS)
    • A complete visa application with the required documents (as mentioned on the France-Visas registration receipt).
  • Step 6. Track your application

    • Stay informed about the progress of your application
    • You will receive an email update and an SMS when your passport has been returned to the Visa Application Centre.
    • You can also track your visa application status online from the France-Visas website (under “4. Track your application”):
    • Use the Reference Number present on the invoice/receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre along with your last name to access this service.
  • Step 7. Collect your passport

    • Receive your passport from the Visa Application Centre
    • After a visa application decision has been made, you can pick up your documents from the Visa Application Centre or have your documents returned to you by courier for an additional fee.
    • For some Visa Application Centres, your documents will only be returned via courier.
    • Please check with the Visa Application Centre at time of your appointment for the options available to collect your documents.

Terms and conditions

In applying for your visa, VFS Global may provide the services as detailed below. These services will be provided were permitted by the Government of the Country you are applying to visit. These services may not be possible in all countries.


The Short Messaging Service ('SMS') where provided to update the visa applicant on current status of their Application. The SMS is based on the information provided by the Embassy of France. (“The Embassy”)

The time to deliver the SMS is dependent on several factors such as upon the traffic on the mobile network and whether the visa applicant mobile phone is within reach and switched on and cannot therefore be guaranteed by VFS Global. VFS Global is not a mobile network operator and does not guarantee the delivery of SMS text messages

The visa applicant confirms that they have provided an accurate mobile number for receiving SMS. The visa applicant confirms that they are the owner or the legitimate user of the mobile device or phone. The visa applicant acknowledges that using another person's mobile phone or providing inaccurate mobile phone number or the unauthorized use of mobile phone number for receiving the SMS, may entail disclosure of visa applicant‘s confidential information which disclosure shall be at the sole risk of the visa applicant.

The SMS services, once purchased, will be available to the visa applicant from the time of application until the completion of processing of the application, or such other period as VFS Global may advise via our website located at VFS Global reserves the right to withdraw this service at any time and without notice.

The visa applicant must not use (or permit any third party to use) the SMS service to send any message or communication which is spam, illegal, offensive, abusive, indecent, obscene or menacing or causes annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety or infringes the rights of third parties. VFS Global reserves the right to withdraw the SMS service to such visa applicant if the visa applicant is in breach of these terms and conditions. VFS Global may also withdraw the SMS services if VFS Global in its sole discretion apprehends that the SMS service is being used for such purposes.

For operational reasons VFS Global may vary the technical specification of the SMS services without notice. In the event of any change to the SMS services these terms and conditions are to be treated as varied accordingly.

The visa applicant acknowledges that the SMS services may, at any time, be adversely affected by problems with the visa applicant’s mobile phone network, force majeure events including, without limitation, interference to the network coverage. VFS Global is not responsible or liable to the visa applicant for any loss, damage or expenses incurred directly or indirectly by the visa applicant as a result of any difficulties experienced by the visa applicant‘s mobile phone service provider. Subject to the constraints described within this paragraph, VFS Global shall carry out the services with reasonable care and skill.

If the visa applicant does not receive SMS services, the visa applicant should inform VFS Global through email or Helpline numbers mentioned on our contact us page.

To use the services, the visa applicant should refer to the instructions available on the website. The visa applicant agrees to comply with all instructions we may give concerning the SMS services, including any security instructions. We will be entitled to treat any failure by visa applicant themselves to comply with these instructions as a breach of these terms and conditions, which will entitle us to deny visa applicant access to the SMS services.

The visa applicant is responsible for paying charges for the message origination. Charges once paid for SMS service will not be refunded under any circumstances.

The visa applicant shall at its sole risk be responsible for taking all reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized persons gaining access to the Services.

VFS Global may in its sole discretion temporarily suspend the provision of the SMS services if such provision could materially affect the quality of any telecommunications service, including the SMS services provided by VFS Global.

VFS Global specifically excludes all liability of any kind (including negligence) in respect of any third party information or other material made available on, or which can be accessed using SMS text services.

This terms and conditions are governed by the law of Fiji Islands and both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts Fiji Islands.


Certain Diplomatic Missions may require the Applicant’s to attend a personal interview. Applicants will be required to provide their application reference number and/or certain personal information such as family name, given name, date of birth, phone number, street address, email address, application date, and passport etc. number for the purposes of uniquely identifying the applicant.

All such information, posted, furnished and submitted by the Applicant while scheduling an interview appointment will be communicated to the respective Diplomatic Mission having jurisdiction to receive such application/s.

Certain data and information related to visa applications received by VFS GLOBAL is presently stored/ hosted at data centre/s, details of which are in our Privacy Notice. The data captured by VFS Global in its systems for processing of visa applications from the European Union is stored within the European Union (EU) boundary. The data of applicants other than that from the EU may be stored in VFS Global systems either within the EU boundary at our data center in UK (London) or at our data center in India (Mumbai).

This information may be used, disclosed by VFS Global for performing its various obligations towards respective Diplomatic Missions and will be purged within 30 (thirty) days from the date of receipt by VFS Global.


VFS Global website may contain links to third party sites promoting various products and/or services that VFS Global does not own or operate. These links to websites are in nature of paid advertising and are not verified by VFS Global.

These links are provided for convenient access. Access to these links is voluntary and does not indicate that VFS Global endorses it or is associated with any of these other third party websites. VFS Global does not tolerate spam.

VFS Global website/s or communication tools shall not be used to send spam or otherwise send content that would violate the terms and conditions of VFS Global user agreement.

VFS Global filters and automatically scans messages for viruses and other illegal or prohibited content before they are sent.

It has come to VFS Global’s attention that, individuals misrepresenting themselves as VFS Global’ agents or representatives have approached people to offer fraudulent/fictitious employment opportunities, with the intent to steal personal information or solicit money from people. VFS Global encourage the Visa Applicant/user to exercise caution and common sense when receiving any such employment offer, which requires payment of any fees/money, or promises a work visa in exchange for money. The said offers are completely fake and not valid. VFS Global is not a Recruitment agency and does not offer recruitment services. Scammers operate primarily via the internet, email, phone etc. VFS Global warns people to beware of such scams.

Please be advised that, VFS Global is a visa processing company and works only with government and diplomatic missions to fulfil their administrative requirements of visa application processing. Neither VFS Global nor its representatives will ask for money from individuals under any circumstances to lure them with employment opportunities either in VFS Global or outside. If you receive any offer that purports to be from VFS Global, which ask for money, these types of offers are fraudulent.

Warning signs of recruitment fraud.

The following are some examples of recruitment fraud which are in violation of VFS Global’s processes and ethical practices:

  • The email is not sent from an official VFS Global e-mail address but from a free e-mail service such as: Hotmail, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. It is also possible that, the email is sent from a fake email address.
  • The Visa Applicant/Users are asked to disclose private or confidential information.
  • The Visa Applicant/Users are asked to be interviewed over the phone or via an instant-messenger type program.
  • The Visa Applicant/Users are requested to pay fees/money.
  • The Visa Applicant/Users are requested to complete bogus recruitment documentations such as an application or employment visa forms, (the VFS Global name and logo could be forged/fabricated and featured on the documentation without authority).
  • Insistence on urgency.
  • Money will be requested for processing Work Permits, Visa applications or the like.

Such actions are presumably intended to defraud or obtain personal information from the victims.

The activities of these individuals involve criminal and civil liabilities. While VFS Global takes such matter seriously and reserves its right to contact competent law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute such illegal activities, it is often difficult to locate and prosecute these individuals.

Therefore, if the Visa Applicant/Users receive a request, either in writing or verbally, for an interview or a job offer that is believed to be or might be fraudulent or suspicious, VFS Global urges the users to disregard them and verify the same with VFS Global at

TT Services New Zealand Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as “ TT Services”) is a service provided for Embassy of France. (“The Embassy”). TT Services is an outsourced partner of the Embassy.

TT Services is responsible for scheduling appointments, acceptance of applications, acceptance of visa and logistic fees, submission of applications at the Embassy and returning the passport back to the applicant/s.

It must be noted that the grant or refusal of the France visa is at the sole discretion of the Embassy and TT Services is neither involved in the process nor is liable or responsible in any manner whatsoever for any delay in processing or grant or rejection of the visa application of any applicant by the Embassy, which reserves the right to ask for further documentation and to refuse the visa application.

TT Services takes every reasonable precaution while handling the documents of the applicant/s and shall not be liable in any manner whatsoever to the applicant/s for any documents which are lost in transit by accident, theft, natural calamities (act of god) or any other reason outside the control of, or not arising out of a willful default of TT Services and also if documents are hand over directly to the applicant/s.

Delivery Services - The applicant/s agrees and accepts that the courier acceptance and delivery service through which the documents are returned to the applicant/s by TT Services is operated by a third-party vendor. TT Services does not control or operate any courier company, neither does it control or operate any facility or service provided by the courier company. TT Services disclaims any and all liability for any loss or damage caused to the applicant/s in the event that his/her documents are delayed/ misplaced/ lost/ damaged by the courier company, whether such delay/ misplacement/ loss/ damage result from negligence, accident or any other cause. In no event shall TT Services and/or its representatives be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential damages or any damages whatsoever due to such delay/ misplacement/ loss/ damage of the documents, including the Applicant’s passport. Without prejudice to the aforesaid, TT Services’ and/or its representatives sole and exclusive liability in case a passport is lost or damaged in transit, is limited/restricted to the reimbursement of the amount of fees charged by the Embassy, for the replacement of a lost / damaged passport through normal application procedure and shall assist the applicant in the replacement of the lost visas. Such reimbursement of the fee amount will be made by TT Services to the applicant/s only on the presentation by the applicant/s of the payment receipt issued by the Embassy. The applicant/s agrees that the foregoing limitation of liability is an agreed allocation of risk between the parties and this limitation of liability is and shall be an integral part of this disclaimer.

TT Services or any of its officers, director, employees, agents etc. shall have no any responsibility and/or liability of any nature, for any reason whatsoever for any delays, or for loss of or damage to any visa application, passport or other documents, caused by, or occurring whilst any application, passport or document is in the possession of, any third party postal or courier service, including, during the process of transportation of visa applications, passport or other documents between TT Services and the Embassy and when being returned by TT Services to the visa applicant/s.

Service Charges - Negotiable Instruments wherever applicable are subject to realization. The service charges once received by TT Services from the applicant/s vide demand drafts will not be refundable under any circumstances, irrespective of whether or not the desired visa is granted by the Embassy.

Advertising - Advertising material may accompany the relevant documents at the time they are returned to the applicant/s. If the applicant/s does not wish to receive any such advertising material along with the relevant documents, the applicant/s must intimate the TT Services in advance at the time of submitting the documents.

TT Services in its sole discretion, may change, amend, cancel or withdraw any or all of the terms and conditions mentioned herein at any time without any prior notice. No employee of VFS Global has any authority whatsoever to change / amend / amplify or withdraw any or all of the terms and conditions mentioned herein without the prior written approval of TT Services.

These terms and conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Fiji Islands Any claims or disputes arising in relation to the services provided by TT Services to the applicant shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Fiji Islands .

The applicant hereby accepts and confirms that the applicant and/or his/her representative, prior to submitting the visa application, has read, understood and agreed to be bound by, without limitation or qualification, all of the terms, conditions and details provided herein.

We are authorized to receive applications for various categories of visa, permit and travel document and to perform administrative and non-judgmental tasks related to those applications and citizen services for client governments enabling them to focus entirely on the critical task of assessment.

Who is responsible for your personal data?

The French Consulate competent to examine your visa application and the “Direction de l’immigration, sous-direction des visas, 11 rue de la Maison Blanche, 44036 NANTES CEDEX” of the French Ministry of Interior are responsible for processing the personal data you provide in the visa application form and for the data received about you in connection with processing your case (Data Controller for visa applications). Please see the link at the bottom of our website for more information about how they process your personal data.

When VFS Global provides additional services requested by you, such as courier delivery, VFS Global is responsible for processing the personal data you provide in connection with these services (Data Controller for additional services). This privacy notice applies to the processing of personal data that VFS Global performs in providing these additional services.

How do we collect information about you?

We collect information about you when you use our websites, or request our services, for example, when you request courier delivery services. This information is collected by a member of our staff when you contact a visa application centre (VAC), if you provide this information when you contact us via e-mail, telephone or by Web-Chat, or when you provide these details in a web form on our websites.

What data does VFS Global process when providing additional services requested by you?

We will only process following Personal Information for the purpose of scheduling an appointment, tracking packages, providing additional services and communicating via e-mail and webchat through the Contact Centre and the VAC:

  • Family Name;
  • Given Name(s);
  • Date of Birth;
  • Phone Number;
  • Phone Number (Alternative);
  • Street Address;
  • E-mail address;
  • Appointment Reference Number; and
  • Tracking ID.

Lawful basis for processing your personal data.

We use the GDPR lawful bases of:

Article 6(b) “processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract”

Article 6(c) “processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject“

How is your information used?

Your information will only be used to:

  • Book an appointment with one of our visa submissions officers at a Visa Application Centre (VAC);
  • To validate who you say you are when you come to collect your travel document;
  • To enable you to track the progress of your application;
  • To provide you with additional services that you request such as courier delivery for which we will need to know the delivery address and the name of who to deliver the travel document to;

How long do we hold on to your data for?

The visa application data that we collect will not be copied or retained by VFS Global.

Your contact information is retained in electronic form for a maximum of thirty (30) days after your travel documents have been returned to you. This is for the purposes of assisting if you contact us with follow-up questions. We are legally required to hold some types of information to fulfil our statutory obligations (for example; invoices for taxation legislation).

Who do we share your information with?

We will not disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent. We may share your contact information with other partners where it is necessary for the processing of your requests or to deliver an additional service that you have requested for, for example; if you have asked us to deliver your travel document to your home or office. We only use partners that have sufficient data protection measures in place.

We will only disclose personal information when requested by authorities and only if that request is supported by a court order.

Third Party Product Providers we work in association with:

We work closely with a small number of third-party product providers to bring you a range of quality and reliable services designed to provide you the best application process experience. For example, when you pay for your visa application we will use a trusted payment service provider. This third-party provider will use your details to process your payments and carry out their obligations arising from any applicable laws. In some cases, they will be acting as a Data Controller of your information and therefore we advise you to read their Privacy Notice. These third-party service providers may share your information with us which we will use in accordance with this Privacy Notice.

Transferring your information off-shore:

We will transfer your personal information, internally within VFS Global, to one of our data centres located in Europe. If you would like to know more about our data transfer practices, please contact our Data Protection Officer .

Your rights.

You have certain rights under the GDPR with regards to the personal information you provided when requesting additional services. These rights are:

  • The right to be informed how your personal information is being used.
  • The right of access to your personal information.
  • The right to rectification if your personal information is incorrect.
  • The right to erasure your personal information. (Where the law permits this).
  • The right to restrict processing of your personal information.
  • The right to data portability.
  • The right to object to how your personal information is used.

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information VFS Global holds about you. This does not apply to personal information you have provided in support of your visa application, for this you must contact the diplomatic mission of [ France] whose visa you have applied for.

If you request access to your personal information, we will gladly comply, subject to any relevant legal requirements and exemptions. Before providing data to you, we will ask for proof of identity and sufficient information about your interaction with us so that we can locate any relevant data. We may also charge you a fee for providing you with a copy of your data (except where this is not permissible under local law).


If you feel that your personal information has been handled incorrectly or you have a complaint about how your personal information is processed, you have the right to complain.

You can complain to our Data Protection Officer, or the Data Protection Authority in your country, outlining how you think your rights may have been impacted by the data processing performed by VFS Global.
