The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs is introducing a new travel document system. Passport and ID card applications can temporarily not be processed during the periods mentioned.

In case of extreme urgency, please contact VFS as soon as possible for personal advice.

If you have already booked an appointment for either an ID card or a passport application during the periods mentioned, please contact VFS to reschedule your appointment.
Dutch Passport and ID Centre in Chicago re-opens

Effective 21st July 2020 customers can submit Effective 8th July 2020 customers can submit Dutch Passport and ID applications at the VFS Global Application Centre in Chicago.
Your safety is our priority. Customers visiting our Centre will be required to wear a face mask. You will be required to confirm a COVID-19 Questionnaire prior to entry into the Centres. Customers exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, including fever (higher than 38 degrees Celsius), cough and difficulty breathing must not enter the facility and will be allowed to reschedule their appointment for another day and will be advised to get themselves tested at any healthcare facility of their choice as per CDC guidelines. Thank you for your understanding.
Apart from the above safety procedures conducted, please note that-

Only the applicant with an appointment will be permitted in the VAC.

Please arrive at the time of your appointment. Early arrivals will not be permitted into the VAC.

An applicant can only be accompanied in case the services of a translator/interpreter are required, if the applicant is a minor or with special needs and requires
On Thursday, July 2, Chicago Department of Public Health Commissioner Allison Arwady, M.D., issued an Emergency Travel Order directing travelers entering or returning to Chicago from states experiencing a surge in new COVID-19 cases to quarantine for a 14-day period from the time of last contact within the identified state. This includes both Chicago residents returning from travel to a designated state, and travelers arriving in Chicago from a designated state. The Order went into effect on Monday July 6, 2020, at 12:01am
Travelers from the following states should quarantine upon arrival in Chicago: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.
