Short term Visa

Overview

With a short term visa you can stay in Norway and other countries of the Schengen area for up to 90 days for a period of 180 days. The residence permit gives the possibility of working or staying in Norway for a period exceeding 90 days.

The Royal Embassy and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General represent Denmark / Greenland, Sweden, Finland and Iceland for short term visa applications.

It is advisable to lodge the application well in advance and no later than 15 days before the intended visit. Please note that applications can be lodged no more than six months before the start of the intended visit (nine months for seafarers).

  • We recommend that you wait for the ticket to be purchased until you have confirmed your visa grant.
  • Before attending for the delivery of all necessary documentation, you will need to register your order via the internet. When you attend, your fingerprints will be collected.
  • You may be asked to provide additional documentation or may be called for an interview.
  • Only those who have a residence permit in Brazil can apply for a visitor visa.
  • Competent member state

    If you plan to visit more than one Schengen country in the course of one trip, or if you plan several separate trips within a period of two months, you must submit your application to the embassy or consulate of the Member State that is your main destination based on the length of your stay, or the purpose of stay. If no main destination can be determined, the Member State whose external border the applicant intends to cross first in order to enter the territory of the Member States.

  • Biometrics collection

    Schengen visa applicants have to appear in person in order to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photography).

    For subsequent applications (within 59 months), the fingerprints can be copied and reused from the previous application file in the VIS database.

  • Proof of funds/ financial guarantee

    Guarantee forms from the host in Norway may be submitted in copy version.

Visa Fee

Before you show up to deliver the passport and its documentation, you must register the application in the Application Portal. If it is the first time you place an order, you must do the user registration.

Register the order in Søknadsportalen (order portal)

You will receive a confirmation via e-mail when the portal registration is done. A card will be attached to the e-mail. This letter confirms that you filled out the application form and paid the fee. You will have to print the letter and have it delivered with the other documents.

Order rates

The visa fee is EUR 80. Children under six years do not pay a fee. Children from the age of six years and below the age of 12 years shall pay a visa fee of EUR 40. VFS GLOBAL SERVICE FEE

On the day of your appointment at the application center, you will have to pay a VFS Service fee of BRL 270.72

Documents Required

Visitor visa

With a visitor visa you can stay in Norway and other countries of the Schengen area for up to 90 days for a period of 180 days.

Brazilian citizens with a valid passport do not need a visa to visit Norway or the Schengen area as a tourist.

For citizens of other countries, the following is valid:

  • EU / EEA and visa-free citizens do not need a visitor visa to visit Norway or other countries in the Schengen area.

    • Citizens of other countries need a visitor visa.

Certain rules apply to travel for those who do not require a visitor visa. For more information, please visit the UDI website.

Norway is responsible for the processing of visitor visas for Denmark / Greenland, Sweden, Iceland and Finland. If you are applying for a visitor visa for one of these countries, you should follow the same procedure as for Norway.

Visas to Finland are handled only at the Royal Embassy in Brasilia.

When all documents are delivered, the order process may begin.

Processing Time

The processing time for applications is normally up to 15 calendar days after the embassy or consulate has received the application. The decision period may be extended to 45 days when further consideration is needed.
