    Requirement of negative Covid-19 test and quarantine when entering Norway

    The Norwegian Government has implemented new regulations on entry to Norway due to the spread of COVID-19.

    The regulations are connected to pre-arrival Covid-19 test and quarantine after arrival. The regulations are in force as of 9th of November 2020.

    Please note the additional categories that can now apply for Norwegian visa includes (starts from today – 21st October-2020)

    • children and stepchildren over the age of 21 to a person resident in Norway
    • parents and stepparents of children over the age of 21 residing in Norway
    • grandparents and step-grandparents of a person resident in Norway
    • grandchildren and step-grandchildren of a person resident in Norway
    • children of your girlfriend/boyfriend if you are in an established relationship
    • spouse, registered partner, cohabitant and children of a Norwegian citizen who lives abroad and who travels to visit Norway together with the Norwegian citizen
    • EU/EEA citizens and their family members residing in third countries

    Re-opening of Visa Application Center in Jakarta

    Based on the new PSBB regulation, VFS Services Indonesia will be operating at 25% of the normal capacity. Effective from Wednesday, 16 September 2020 the Norway Visa Application Center will accept visa applications with certain limitations. Should you need more information, kindly send an email to

    On Thursday 12 March 2020, The Norwegian Government enacted a variety of new measures to prevent transmission of the coronavirus. Everyone arriving in Norway who have been outside the Nordic countries are to stay in their homes for 14 days after arriving home to Norway, regardless of whether they have symptoms, or not. Travellers from countries outside the Nordic region who are not residents of Norway will be asked to return. The alternative for these travellers is quarantine. Travellers with symptoms will be isolated. This means that everyone presently staying in Norway and who has been in a country outside the Nordic region in the past 14 days is to be quarantined as well. This policy has retroactive effect and applies to all arrivals since Thursday 27 February 2020. The decision is effective until Thursday 26 March 2020. Please note that these measures can be prolonged for a longer period.     As a precautionary measure to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), all customers visiting the Norway Visa Application Center in Jakarta are required to have their body temperature checked before entering the Centre. For customers with an appointment and having a temperature ≥ 38 ℃, our security team will date stamp the appointment letter and inform the customer to return with the letter when his/her health condition has improved, by emailing our helpdesk at Those with signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g. fever, cough and difficulty breathing) should seek medical advice as early as possible from the Indonesia Health Authorities.     Increased Fees for Visa Applications

    Please note: As of 02 February 2020 the Schengen visa fee per person (Short Stay Visa) will increase from 60 to 80 euros or the equivalent amount in your local currency. For children between 6-12 years old the visa fee will increase to 40 euros or equivalent.

    With effect from 01 April 2018, all applicants are required to book an appointment online to submit their visa application at the Norway Visa Application Centre in Indonesia.

    Instructions on how to schedule an appointment:

    • Before you make an appointment, you should carefully read the visa application process available on the website to submit your visa application and supporting documents at the Norway Visa Application Centre.
    • Only applicants will be allowed inside the visa application centre. The only exceptions to this are those accompanying children under 18 years-of-age or applicants who need special assistance for health reasons, disability or otherwise.
    • Only ONE appointment can be booked per passport.
    • An application will not be accepted at the Norway Visa Application Centre if the applicant name does not match with the one used for making the appointment.
    • If you are part of a family or a group, each member of the family or group must make an individual appointment. For example, if you are a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 children you need to make 4 individual appointments.
    • Please bring a printout of your appointment letter for the scheduled date and time to the Norway Visa Application Centre and present it to the staff / security guard.
    • Please make sure you arrive at the Norway Visa Application Centre 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. If you arrive later than 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment, you will be required to make a new appointment. If VFS has the capacity at that time, the staff may be able to serve the applicant, but it is not guaranteed.
    • If you have missed your appointment on the scheduled day, the system will not allow you to reschedule or cancel the appointment and you will be required to make a new appointment after 24 hours.

    You can reschedule your appointment only for a future date and up to a maximum of 2 times.
