Restrictions on entry into Norway
The Norwegian Government has implemented extensive restrictions on entry into Norway due to the spread of COVID-19.
As a result, foreigners who do not hold a valid residence permit in Norway will be rejected at the border and refused entry into Norway. For the time being, visas for visitors to Norway will not be granted.

Temporary closure of VFS’ Visa Application Centers for Norway
Due to the extensive restrictions on entry into Norway, it will no longer be possible to submit applications for Schengen visas to Norway at any of VFS’ visa application centers. The application centers will still be open for submissions of applications for residence permits to Norway.

Owing to the ongoing global COVID-19 developments, our Norway Visa Application Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will not be accepting visa applications for processing until further notice.

COVID-19 RESTRICTION ON TRAVEL TO NORWAY
In order to stop the spread of COVID-19 and to contribute to the maintenance of necessary health and care services, the Norwegian Directorate of Health has, according to the Infection Control Act, issued the following decision with effect from 12 March 2020:
Travellers from countries outside the Nordic region who are not residents of Norway will be asked to return. The alternative is quarantine. Travellers with symptoms will be isolated.

Are you applying for a Schengen visa or a residence permit to Norway?
The Norwegian embassy in Bangkok was established as a regional hub in South East Asia for immigration matters for Norway in August 2019.As of September 1st 2019 the Norwegian embassy in Bangkok is also responsible for handling visa applications and residence permit applications to Norway for applicants residing in Malaysia and Brunei.The Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok also receives residence permit applications to Norway. These applications are forwarded to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) for decision. 10 October 2019 the VFS Norway Visa Application Centre will be operational in Kuala Lumpur and all applications for visa and residence permits are to be submitted there.
- As per instruction from Embassy of Norway from 29 July 2019 all applicant who want to apply to Norway must come to Norway Visa Application Center for checking photo on bio page. Both for applicant who already had visit to Schengen country before (VIS) and applicant who have not visit to Schengen Country.
