Important Information

  • Please be advised that the Mexican government has officially announced the preventive measures for the temporary suspension of the activities of the public, social, and private sector that involves physical concentration, transit, or displacement of people until 19 April 2020. As such, VFS call centre operations are suspended until 19 April 2020.
  • For Houston:

    In line with the local government's directive for the City of Houston relating to COVID-19 safety measures, effective 24 March 2020, the Houston Visa Application Centre will be closed until 03 April 2020.

  • All Visa Application Centres in Washington D.C. closed until further notice

    In line with the of the directive of the Washington D.C. Mayor’s office relating to COVID-19 safety measures, effective 24 March 2020, all VFS Global Visa Application Centres in Washington D.C. remain closed until further notice.

    • Effective 13 March 2020: Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic the Austrian embassy advices against any form of non-essential travel to the Schengen area until further notice. Please strongly reconsider your travel plans or postpone for later.

      For the time being the Austrian Embassy and VFS are not accepting any visa applications. The following exceptions apply:

      • Relatives of Austrian citizens / EU citizens who live in the same household
      • Diplomats on official mission to Austria

      New regulation effective for arrivals in Austria from Wednesday, 11 March 2020, 00:01 hrs
      Third Country nationals (persons who do not hold citizenship of an EU Country, Norway, Iceland, Principality of Liechtenstein or Switzerland ), who are travelling to Austria and have been to a Corona virus risk area as identified by a travel warning on the Homepage of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (https://www.bmeia.gv.at/en/) within the last 14 days must present a health certificate issued by a licensed medical practitioner confirming a negative molecular-biological SARS-CoV-2 test result upon entry to Austria.

      Current risk areas are: China (partial travel warning), Iran, Italy (partial travel warning) and South Korea. Changes may apply at any time. Travellers are advised to check before their departure if they need to present a health certificate when entering Austria. This certificate has to be issued in either German or English by a licensed medical practitioner and must not be older than 4 days.       Travellers who cannot present such a health certificate may be denied entry into Austria and / or can be subject to other measures according to Austrian epidemic law.

    • Furthermore, the Austrian health authorities may order any person entering or travelling through Austria to be subject of a topical medical check.
