Biometrics is collected using a quick, discreet and non-intrusive process that captures a facial image with a digital camera and a 10-digit fingerprint scan using a digital scanner.
[Please Note: If you refuse to submit your biometrics and you are not subject to any exception according to EU regulation (being under 12 years of age, being a Head of State, etc.), your visa application will not be accepted.]
For applicants between ages 5 to 12 years, facial capture is mandatory while fingerprint scanning is not.
The face must be clearly visible for a photograph to be taken. As per specifications by the diplomatic mission:
Ensure that hair does not cover the eyes, refrain from wearing a hat or scarf or any other item that conceals the face, hair or neck (with the exception of religious head coverings that visibly show your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be ensured)
