Travel restrictions for non-essential travel originating from Iran are extended beyond June 30th, 2020 and until this country is included in the White List of the EU. Exceptions include essential travel, which are defined as follows:
People who travel for serious personal or professional reasons:
National visas (Type D) that have expired between 11 March 2020 and 31 August 2020 are automatically extended till 30 September 2020. However, please be informed that, if you have such a visa, you can use it only once. This visa is no longer valid after one trip to Greece. Expired (within the above mentioned dates) Visa Type D holders can enter Greece for the purpose of renewing their residence permits with a certificate, to be issued by the Consular Section.
Important notice on COVID-19 related travel restrictions
All travelers are responsible for verifying the travel restrictions in place before departure. Holders of Schengen Visas are not automatically entitled to enter a Schengen area but must respect the travel restrictions in place. Individual EU and Schengen member states have introduced travel restrictions, including at certain borders between those states. All travelers are required to fill in the Passenger Locator Form at least 48 hours before boarding. If the form is not filled in, there is an administrative fine of €500. For further information, please visit https://travel.gov.gr/#/
Passengers from abroad may upon arrival be tested for COVID-19. Depending on the result, a quarantine may be imposed of 1-14 days. If the imposed quarantine is not kept, there is an administrative fine of €5,000. Courier return of passports made mandatory for Greece visa customers in Tehran Effective 12th July 2020, in light of the COVID-19 alert and keeping in mind the health and safety of our customers and employees, the courier service for return of passports to Greece visa customers in Tehran has been made mandatory.
Customers no longer need to visit the Visa Application Centre to pick up their passport. Once ready for collection, the passport will be couriered to their location of choice (serviceable by our courier partner, Aramex and TNT).
Courier fees of Euro 10 per application (inside Tehran) and Euro 14 per application (outside Tehran) will apply.
The courier service has been made mandatory for a temporary period to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus and reduce the footfall at the Visa Application Centre.

Greece Visa Application Centre closed in Iran
Effective 15 March 2020, the VFS Global Greece Visa Application Centre is closed in Iran until further notice.
VFS Global will be in contact with customers who currently have appointments during this period to discuss alternative arrangements. Where possible, we will begin returning passports currently held in the VAC to customers, via courier, where courier return has been requested. If your passport is currently held in a VAC, but you have not previously arranged for it to be returned by courier, you may collect the passport by visiting the visa application centre as per the passport collection timings: 09 :00 to 16 :00 between Sunday to Thursday. We will keep the situation under review and updates regarding reopening of the centre will be announced on this page.
