The Embassy of Hellenic Republic in Iran is pleased to announce that VFS GCC LLC has been chosen as the service provider for managing the visa application submission in the Iran. All applications will be submitted through VFS Global and will be assessed by the Embassy of Hellenic Republic in Iran

Important information icon
    1. Travel restrictions for non-essential travel originating from Iran are extended beyond June 30th, 2020 and until this country is included in the White List of the EU. Exceptions include essential travel, which are defined as follows:

      1. Citizens and member of families of citizens of EU and Schengen member states.
      2. Residents and residence permit holders of EU and Schengen member states.
      3. Members of government missions.
      4. On duty members of diplomatic or consular authorities, international and european organisations, humanitarian organisations.
      5. People who travel for serious personal or professional reasons:

        1. Personal reason: having documents proving that something serious and unforeseeable (e.g. health issue or death) has ensued to a close family member
        2. Professional reason: having letters of recommendation of a foreign and greek company and only for sufficiently justified cases (e.g. contract, serious business purpose)
      6. Students (after having taken a Covid-19 test)
      7. Employees in the sectors of agriculture and transport (seamen, aircraft crews, truck drivers – after having taken a Covid-19 test)
      8. Medical and nursing staff, researchers and health professionals, under the condition that they will be immediately included in the National Health System.
      9. People who take care of elderly and disabled persons (after having taken a Covid-19 test)
      10. Transit passengers.
    2. The residence permits that have expired between 01 December 2019 and 30 June 2020 and are subject to renewal, as well as the certificates of applications (“blue papers”) that have expired until 30 June 2020 and are subject to renewal, can be renewed up to 31 December 2020. The current residence permits and “blue papers” are considered to be automatically extended for the period between the expiration date and the date of application for a new residence permit (until 31 December 2020). Expired (within the above mentioned dates) residence permit and “blue paper” holders can enter Greece for the purpose of renewing their residence permits with a new Type C Visa.
    3. National visas (Type D) that have expired between 11 March 2020 and 31 August 2020 are automatically extended till 30 September 2020. However, please be informed that, if you have such a visa, you can use it only once. This visa is no longer valid after one trip to Greece. Expired (within the above mentioned dates) Visa Type D holders can enter Greece for the purpose of renewing their residence permits with a certificate, to be issued by the Consular Section.

      Important notice on COVID-19 related travel restrictions

      All travelers are responsible for verifying the travel restrictions in place before departure. Holders of Schengen Visas are not automatically entitled to enter a Schengen area but must respect the travel restrictions in place. Individual EU and Schengen member states have introduced travel restrictions, including at certain borders between those states.       All travelers are required to fill in the Passenger Locator Form at least 48 hours before boarding. If the form is not filled in, there is an administrative fine of €500. For further information, please visit https://travel.gov.gr/#/

      Passengers from abroad may upon arrival be tested for COVID-19. Depending on the result, a quarantine may be imposed of 1-14 days. If the imposed quarantine is not kept, there is an administrative fine of €5,000.   • Courier return of passports made mandatory for Greece visa customers in Tehran Effective 12th July 2020, in light of the COVID-19 alert and keeping in mind the health and safety of our customers and employees, the courier service for return of passports to Greece visa customers in Tehran has been made mandatory.

    Customers no longer need to visit the Visa Application Centre to pick up their passport. Once ready for collection, the passport will be couriered to their location of choice (serviceable by our courier partner, Aramex and TNT).

    Courier fees of Euro 10 per application (inside Tehran) and Euro 14 per application (outside Tehran) will apply.

    The courier service has been made mandatory for a temporary period to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus and reduce the footfall at the Visa Application Centre.

    We will post an update on this page when the courier service is made optional again.

  • Greece Visa Application Centre closed in Iran

    Effective 15 March 2020, the VFS Global Greece Visa Application Centre is closed in Iran until further notice.

    VFS Global will be in contact with customers who currently have appointments during this period to discuss alternative arrangements. Where possible, we will begin returning passports currently held in the VAC to customers, via courier, where courier return has been requested. If your passport is currently held in a VAC, but you have not previously arranged for it to be returned by courier, you may collect the passport by visiting the visa application centre as per the passport collection timings: 09 :00 to 16 :00 between Sunday to Thursday. We will keep the situation under review and updates regarding reopening of the centre will be announced on this page.
