    07 December 2018.

New Zealand visa processing times may take longer from November to March

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) is currently receiving high numbers of visa applications. This is likely to continue until March 2019. This is typical for this time of year as visitor and student visa applications experience a peak from November to March due to the summer season and the beginning of a new academic year.

You can find recent processing times on the INZ website which will help you establish an estimated processing time for a visa.

When you are making travel plans you need to take these processing times into account. Submit your application as early as possible to allow enough time for your application to be processed before the date you intend to travel.

To ensure your application is processed as quickly as possible you need to supply all relevant information with your application, including translations. If you do not supply the correct information this could hold up the processing of your visa.

You should wait until your application is completed before you finalise your travel plans. INZ cannot prioritise visa applications even if you have already purchased travel.

Please wait until the indicated time for visa application processing has passed before contacting INZ, unless your circumstances have changed or INZ have exceeded the indicated timeframes.

New Visa Application Centre Service Fee Start 01 June 2015

Effective Monday, 01 June 2015, a new Visa Application Centre service fee rate will apply. The change in fee rate is a result of foreign currency fluctuations against the New Zealand dollar in line with INZ’s contract with Visa Application Centre providers.

The new Visa Application Centre service fee is IDR 240.000,-

Why is the Visa Application Centre service fee changing?

The Visa Application Centre service fee amount contracted with the commercial providers who provide visa support services is set in New Zealand dollars (for locations included in this review). The service fee is then converted to local currency and reviewed at a specified frequency. This change in fee is a direct result of a review of foreign exchange rates in line with INZ’s contract with Visa Application Centre providers.

    E-Medical Goes Live

We are pleased to advise you that since 30 January 2015, Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has joined e-Medical, an online immigration health processing system developed by Australia’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

E-Medical will replace INZ’s existing paper-based medical certificates, and will be used by INZ’s panel physicians.

This is part of the INZ Health Project aimed at improving our health-related policies, tools and processes including through the implementation of electronic health platforms.

We note that alignment will result in a reduction in the number of offshore physicians as New Zealand has had more physicians in our network than Australia.

Any applicants who had medical reports completed on or before 29 January 2015 by a panel doctor who was removed from our list on 30 January 2015 are still able to submit the medical report for up to three months.

Please click here for the link to the approved list of panel doctors.
