TOURIST VISA

Overview

If you are planning a short visit to Norway for up to 90 days or less and you do not have the nationality of one of the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), you may need to apply for a Schengen visa. Norway is one of the 26 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them.

Aside from the visa fee, VFS will collect a service fee of DZD « 3000 for each visa application. VFS accepts payment in cash at the Norway counter in VFS during your appointment date.

Applicants exempted from paying the Visa Fee:

  • Children under 6 years
  • School pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purpose of study or educational training
  • Researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research, as per specific rules
  • Applicants related to (spouse, descendant or dependent ascendant of) EEA citizen who are exercising their right to free movement (on production of relevant certificates (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.)
  • Applications for Entry visas (d-visa) for skilled workers (including their family members) who have received a concrete offer of employment.
  • In certain cases, the fee may be waived or reduced in accordance with national legislation, when this would serve to promote cultural, foreign policy or development policy interests, other areas of vital public interest, or for humanitarian reasons.

Documents Required

  1. The Schengen visa allows entry and free movement on the territory of the states covered by the Schengen Agreements (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and Sweden). The duration of the short-stay visa not exceeding 90 days over a period of 180 days, except for the shorter duration mentioned on the vignette. Visas for stays exceeding 90 days over a period of 180 days are not Schengen visas and are subject to special conditions (residence permits, family reunification, etc.)
  2. The Norwegian embassy in Amman- Jordan has become the Visa and Immigration Hub for the Middle East and North Africa. This means that it handles visa and residence applications from Algeria.
  3. The only destination / main destination is Norway, Denmark and Iceland
  4. Additional documents may be requested, if necessary. The Royal Norwegian Embassy reserves the right to summon the applicants for an interview.
  5. The submission of a complete dossier does not necessarily entail the issuance of the visa.
  6. In Arabic, a translation into English or French must be attached.
    1. Visa application form duly filled in and signed personally by the applicant, along with 2 other documents to be printed directly from the Application Portal:

        3. One photograph glued to the Cover letter (colored, not older than 6 months, white background, 35 x 45 mm.)
        4. Passport valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure from Schengen with at least two blank pages.
        5. Colour copy of passport of the biodata page, validity page.
        6. If the applicant is not an Algerian national: Copy of valid residence (no translation needed).
        7. Proof of financial means: Recent bank statements in English or French showing movement of means (minimum the last three months), stamped and signed by the bank/proof of real estate property/ salary slips
        8. Original employment letter: in English / French indicating position, salary and date of starting the post in addition to CNAS and trade registry of employer. Company Owners: original of the commercial registry/ or tax card. Free business: professional card + declaration of income. Farmers: Farm operation certificate + farming card, latest declaration of annual income. Pensioners: Proof of receipt of a retirement pension. Students: original proof of enrollment in school/university.
        9. Travel reservation or other proof of intended transport (do not purchase ticket, unless visa is granted). If visa granted, it will be issued according to the travel reservation and travel medical insurance policy.
        10. Travel medical insurance covering the period of stay with a value of at least 30,000 Euro (valid for all Schengen countries).

        13. Consent from parents notarised by public notary /certified by the police and copy of parents’ passports (form)) (for minors travelling without or with one of the parents) written in or translated to English/ French.

        If one of the parents hold the sole custody of the child, it is not necessary to obtain the consent of the other parent to travel alone with the child.

The photographes must be:

  • No more than 6-months old
  • 35-40mm in width
  • Close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70 -80% of the photograph
  • In sharp focus and clear
  • Of high quality with no ink marks or creases

The photographs must:

  • Show you looking directly at the camera
  • Show your skin tones naturally
  • Have appropriate brightness and contrast
  • Be printed on high quality paper, and at high resolution Photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper.

Style and lighting

The photographs must be:

  • Be colour neutral
  • Show your eyes open and clearly visible-no hair across your eyes
  • Show you facing square on to the camera, not looking over one shoulder (portrait style) or tilted, and showing both edges of your face clearly
  • Be taken with a plain light-coloured background
  • Be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on your face and no red eye

Glasses and head covers

If you wear glasses:

  • Be colour neutral
  • The photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses, and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames - wear lighter framed glasses if you have them)
  • Make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes.

Head coverings :

  • Are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.

Processing Time

  • The legal processing time for a Schengen visa is 15 calendar days.
  • Please note that your passport will be kept during the visa application process.
  • However, case processing time depends on each individual case. Applicants are advised to apply several weeks before their intended journey, but not more than 90 days in advance.
  • After the embassy in Amman has received the application. If the embassy asks you for additional documents or information, it will take more time to process your application.
