Guide to Processing Time
Once the complete application (i.e. all requested forms and documents attached) is received by the Embassy in Canberra, The processing time for applications is normally up to 15 calendar days after the embassy or consulate has received the application. The decision period may be extended to 45 days when further consideration is needed, non inclusive of logistic transit times. Processing times may vary on a case to case basis and remain at the sole discretion of the Embassy in Canberra, or the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI), The Icelandic Directorate of Immigration or the Swedish Migration Board (as applicable). It is advisable to lodge the application well in advance and no later than 15 days before the intended visit. Please note that applications can be lodged no more than six months before the start of the intended visit (nine months for seafarers).
Please be advised that while your application is under process at the Embassy, you should not contact the Embassy or VFS regarding the status of your application. Either VFS or the Embassy will contact you if further documentation is required or when a decision has been made on your case. Once your application is processed, it will be returned to you via your self-addressed Express Post envelope. You can track the status of your envelope at Australia Post
