VISA TYPES
Short term Visa
If you intend to travel to Belgium for business, tourism or private purposes, you must submit documents to obtain a short - term visa, which is a Schengen visa, permitting a stay in Belgium as well as in the Schengen countries for up to 90 days in any 180 days period.
If you wish to reside in Belgium for an extended period of time (more than 90 days), you need to apply for a long term visa. Kindly check the information on the current website.
The holders of valid Schengen visas may travel to the Kingdom of Belgium. It is recommended to check the number of entries and visa validity period covers intended stay in Belgium.

Applicants will have to provide evidence that they fall under particular visa category. It is recommended to apply for a visa in advance.

Overview
A visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Belgium for a limited period of time. This category of visa caters to people wishing to visit Belgium for touristic purposes either through buying a tour via travel agency, or through self-bookings of tickets and hotel.
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.Guarantees for return (assessment of migration risk): The applicant is requested to provide as much information as possible to document his/her family background, professional and socio-economic status, ownership of land or real estate (for instance : proof of family bonds with his/her country of origin, proof of regular income and stable source of revenues from the applicant and/or his/her partner, proof of property, etc.)
This information is essential to correctly judge the intention of the applicant to leave the Schengen area before the expiry of his/her visa.

However, If you are uncertain whether your fingerprints have been captured for a Schengen visa within the last 59 months, you are advised to appear in person.
Kindly note that, if it would appear that the fingerprints prove not to be present in the VIS system, you will be asked to reappear in person for new biometric data collection. To avoid this possible complication, you have the right to ask for your fingerprints to be taken again.

Photo Specifications
A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up-to-date photograph (dated max 6 month old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be sized between 35 – 45 mm
- Full face taken straight forward 30 - 36 mm from point of the chin to top of hair
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be shut
- Applicants should clearly write their name and surname on the back of their photographs

This category of visa caters for drivers conducting international cargo and passenger transportation services to Belgium in vehicles registered in Turkey. A visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Belgium for a limited period of time. This category of visa caters to people wishing to visit Belgium for touristic purposes either through buying a tour via travel agency, or through self-bookings of tickets and hotel.
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.
Guarantees for return (assessment of migration risk): The applicant is requested to provide as much information as possible to document his/her family background, professional and socio-economic status, ownership of land or real estate (for instance : proof of family bonds with his/her country of origin, proof of regular income and stable source of revenues from the applicant and/or his/her partner, proof of property, etc.)
This information is essential to correctly judge the intention of the applicant to leave the Schengen area before the expiry of his/her visa.

AIRPORT TRANSIT VISA

Overview
From 1/12/2022, Turkish passengers who have a connection at an airport in Belgium before boarding to another country, will have in their passport a new visa that only allows them to pass through the international transit area of a Belgian airport.
This is the airport transit visa (A visa).
This visa allows only a transit in the international zone or in the zone under the authority of the customs at the airport. It does not allow the passenger to leave the airport.
All A visas will be requested from our partner VFS Global on the basis of an appointment. Applicants are advised to submit their complete visa files at least 15 working days before the intended date of departure.

Our Consulate may in justified individual cases, request additional documents during the examination of an application which are not mentioned in the above harmonized list. Non-complete files will be treated as such and sent to the Ministry of the Interior / Immigration Office in Brussels. Incomplete files may lead to a refusal of the visa.

A valid passport:
- should have been issued within the previous 10 years;
- should be valid at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen territory or, in the case of several visits, after the last intended date of departure; - should contain at least 2 empty pages when applying for the visa.

A visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Belgium for a limited period of time. This category of visa caters to people wishing to visit Belgium for touristic purposes either through buying a tour via travel agency, or through self-bookings of tickets and hotel.

Overview
This visa is intended to allow foreign nationals to obtain a long term visa (type D) allowing them to stay in the territory of the Kingdom of Belgium for over 90 days. This visa applies for young people welcomed temporarily into a family, where he/she is lodged and fed in return for light everyday family tasks, with a view to perfecting his linguistic knowledge and increasing his general culture through an improved familiarity with the country while participating in the life of the host family. A family and a young foreign national must obtain employment authorisation and work permit from the competent Region, after first securing authorisation as per appointed legal procedure.

A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up-to-date photograph (dated max 6 month old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be sized between 35 – 45 mm
- Full face taken straight forward 30 - 36 mm from point of the chin to top of hair
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be shut
- Applicants should clearly write their name and surname on the back of their photographs
