Short Stay (Type C)
Important information for all visa types:
Dear Applicants,
kindly be advised that our office in Alexandria will receive visa applications on behalf of the Consulate General of Greece in Alexandria.
Visa Applications are accepted in Alexandria only from holders of Egyptian Passports which are issued from the authorized offices below:
18, 19 & 20 (Alexandria)
21 (Marsa Matrouh)
36, 37 (Beheira)
If the passport is issued from any other office, then passport holder is required to submit his/her application in Cairo.
For Cairo: Applications shall be lodged no more than Six months, before the start of the intended visit, and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the intended visit.
For Alexandria: Applications shall be lodged no more than 90 days, before the start of the intended visit, and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the intended visit.
Note:
- The Consular Authority might ask for updated documents
- The feedback from Greek Consulate takes around 15 days and the consulate may need more time in some cases.
- The Greek Consulate cannot accept any Arabic documents; all the Arabic documents must be duly translated.
- If the applicant doesn’t have Schengen Visa before in his/her current passport, he/she must bring an old passport covers the last 7 years (the gap between the two passports doesn’t exceed 3 months if you apply in Cairo visa application center and with no gap if you apply in Alexandria visa application center) If none, the applicant must bring a movement certificate from AL-Mugamma for the last 7 years with all the passports mentioned in it duly translated.
- For the foreigner who is applying for a visa he/she must have a valid residence permit in Egypt valid for at least 3 months after the end of the trip.
- For the minors(under 18 years old):
- If the minor is applying with both of his parents, the birth certificate must be submitted.
- If the minor is applying without one of the parents/without both of them,
- Birth certificate must be submitted.
- Both of parents must come to VFS to sign the application in front of VFS officer.
- For Spouses: the marriage certificate is mandatory if they are applying together or one of them is applying with documents related to the other.
- Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted.
- All applicants must attend the appointment at the visa application center personally.
It is advisable to prepare all your required documents corresponding to your travel dates, to avoid delay in the application process.
Important NOTICE:
VAYD service
- Visa at Your Doorstep (VAYD) service: enables customers or a group of customers to have their visa applications collected at a convenient location.
- If you wish to use the visa at your doorstep option, you need to submit the request for the new service online. Upon the approval of the General Consulate, you will be contacted within 2 days.
- Fees
VAYD selling price/applicant Selling price in EUR Selling price in EGP (1-5Customer) 138 7466 (6-20 Customers) 110 5951 - Upon verification of your eligibility and payment of the fees, VFS Global will proceed with the collection of your visa application so it can be processed by the General Consulate of Greece. Important Notice:
kindly be advised that Appointments once booked cannot be cancelled nor rescheduled.
The applicant has to schedule a new appointment in case of no-show for any reason or missing documents during the submission on the allotted date. The booking fee will need to be paid again.
Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted.
Visa fees are non-refundable and have to be paid in cash/ debit or credit card at the time of submission.
Before applying.
Please ensure you understand your particular ‘purpose of visit’. Applications cannot be submitted earlier than six (6) months before the start of the planned journey.
There will be no applications to be accepted in less than 14 days.
If you intend to visit several countries, you need to apply at the Embassy of the country for the long duration of stay.
In case of equal stay, one must submit their application to the mission of the Schengen country representing their first port of entry.
The holders of Egyptian Passports which are issued from the authorized offices below:18,19 & 20 (Alexandria), 21 (Marsa Matrouh) and 36, 37 (Beheira) are required with no exception to submit their application at Alexandria office. If the passport is issued from any other office, then the passport holder is required to submit his/her application in Cairo.
Applicant’s lack of Travel plan will not fall on Consulate General priority to process your visa. It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience

a VFS service charge in EGP 1070 (for submission with biometrics) inclusive of VAT per application will be levied for applicants applying at the visa application Centre. (the VFS service charge is changeable based on the euro rate and can be changed without any notifications, and the difference amount can be paid on the same day of submission).

Documents Required
Application form duly filled in English.
One recent colored photo (must be not more than 6 months old with no glasses), size (3.5x4.5).
Original Passport valid up to -3 months after the expiry of the visa and at least 2 blank pages.
Original Family registry Certificate (if married or divorced) or Individual registry Certificate (if single) from Country of Origin to be translated into English.
If the applicant doesn’t have Schengen Visa before in his/her current passport, he/she must submit an old passport(s) covers the last 7 years (the gap between the two passports doesn’t exceed 3 months if you apply in Cairo visa application center and with no gap if you apply in Alexandria visa application center ) if none, the applicant must bring a movement certificate from AL-Mugamma for the last 7 years with all the passports mentioned in it duly translated.
Document to be provided by employees:
- Certificate of employment, specifying the following data:
- The date of recruitment.
- Position in the company.
- Salary level.
- Social insurance number status (in case the employee doesn’t insured socially from the company, he/she should mention this in the HR letter).
Document to be provided by company owners:
- Valid commercial registry.
- Valid and Up-dated tax card (a proof of yearly renewal should be submitted).
Documents to be provided by students:
- Enrolment from the school or the university.
Documents to be provided by pensioners:
- Print out from the social insurance office.
A very recent personal bank statement with transactions for the last 6 months, each page has to be stamped and all the statement must be submitted in English including the name.
Round air ticket reservation, including the internal transportations inside Greece.
A prepaid hotel reservation for each night in the Schengen area, with a proof of payment from the hotel.
Medical travel insurance with minimum coverage 30,000 Euro, please check the list of the official companies, click here.In the case of minors (under the age of 18):
If applying with parents, a birth certificate must be presented.
In the current case without one of the parents:
A birth certificate must be presented.
In the event that a minor is presented without one of the parents, a travel approval must be presented extracted from the Egyptian notary provided orignely and transelated into English or Greek with the other parent presents at the application center on the day of application.
In the event that one of the parents travels abroad, a travel approval must be submitted originally extracted from the Greek consulate in the country in which he resides abroad, accompanied by a copy of proof of identity with the other parents presents at the application center on the day of application.
Important information
Applications shall be lodged no more than Six months, before the start of the intended visit of you apply in Cairo office but if you apply in Alexandria office, as per the instruction of the Greek consulate in Alexandria, applications shall be lodged no more than three months.
As a rule, applications shall be lodged no later than 15 working days before the start of the intended visit at Cairo Visa Application Center

The Consular Authority might ask for updated documents
Documents issued originally in Arabic must be duly translated, except the following documents must be translated at the Greek community only;
- Commercial registry.
- Tax card.
- Mugamma certificate.
All the documents must be submitted original except the commercial registry and the tax card but they are needed to be seen will the submission
The validity of the submitted documents is only one month from the issuance date.
For Honeymooners, a proof of wedding/being married should be provided.
For foreigners, a valid residence permit of stay up to three months after the end of the trip.
In case the applicant will submit any documents related to his/her mother, the birth certificate of the applicant must be submitted.
For Spouses: The marriage certificate is mandatory if they are applying together or one of them is applying with documents related to the other.

Photo Specifications
Applicants are requested to submit their application form with the new photo format, as explained below:
General
The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
- Taken against a white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background
- The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
- Full face, non-smiling (without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background).
- Not tilted picture (portrait style) showing both edges of face clearly.
- Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
- Photo in sharp focus and clear.
Photo Size
The photo for each visa applicant must measure:
- The picture dimensions must be 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high at least. A smaller picture will be rejected. For instance, a photo being 235 pixels by 320 pixels is not valid.
- On the other hand, the photo should keep a proportion of 3 x 4 (width x height) within limits. However, 250 x 340 pixels picture would be valid, but not a 290 x 340 pixels one.
- Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 150 Kbytes.
Resolution
- An image resolution is measured in DPI (dots per inch) and it's mainly used to control printing quality. Therefore, higher resolution means better printing quality.
- Photos resolution should be 300 dpi, so, when you scan the image, check this parameter carefully. However, bear in mind that the higher the resolution, the bigger the picture.
Resolution
- The only image format accepted is JPEG (Join Photograph Expert Grup Format). The other image formats such as BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG, etc. will be rejected (a warning will be shown).
Attaching the Photo to the Application form
- Glue one photograph to the application form in the designated space.
Note : If children are traveling with their parents and are included inside the passport of the mother and/or the father, one photograph for each children MUST be glued to the application form of the father or the mother, depending on whom are they traveling with.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photograph presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete.

Processing Time
The processing of the application takes 15 calendar days, but the period of consideration of your visa application by respective consular authority may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days. The Embassy may request further documentation, information or you may be called for an interview which can prolong the processing time.

Please take a printout of the Visa application Form. You are required to fill in all details of the applicant in a legible handwriting and submit it along with the required documents to the Visa Application Center.

- Name, address and contact info of the inviting person.
- Name, nationality and passport no. of applicant.
- Expected date of arrival in Greece plus duration of stay.
- Address during visit in Greece.

If applying with parents, a birth certificate must be presented.
In the current case without one of the parents:
A birth certificate must be presented.
In the event that a minor is presented without one of the parents, a travel approval must be presented extracted from the Egyptian notary provided orignely and transelated into English or Greek with the other parent presents at the application center on the day of application.
In the event that one of the parents travels abroad, a travel approval must be submitted originally extracted from the Greek consulate in the country in which he resides abroad, accompanied by a copy of proof of identity with the other parents presents at the application center on the day of application.
Important Note :
Original Family or individual registry Certificate from Country of Origin to be translated into English.
For foreigners, a valid residence permit of stay up to three months after the end of the trip.

Applications shall be lodged no more than Six months, before the start of the intended visit of you apply in Cairo office but if you apply in Alexandria office, as per the instruction of the Greek consulate in Alexandria, applications shall be lodged no more than three months.
As a rule, applications shall be lodged no later than 15 working days before the start of the intended visit at Cairo Visa Application Center

The Consular Authority might ask for updated documents
- Documents issued originally in Arabic must
be duly translated, except the following
documents must be translated at the Greek
community only;
- Commercial registry.
- Tax card.
- Mugamma certificate.
- All the documents must be submitted original except the commercial registry and the tax card but they are needed to be seen will the submission
- The validity of the submitted documents is only one month from the issuance date.
- In case the applicant will submit any documents related to his/her mother, the birth certificate of the applicant must be submitted.
- For Spouses: The marriage certificate is mandatory if they are applying together or one of them is applying with documents related to the other.

Photo Specifications
Applicants are requested to submit their application form with the new photo format, as explained below:
General
The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
- Taken against a white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background
- The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
- Full face, non-smiling (without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background).
- Not tilted picture (portrait style) showing both edges of face clearly.
- Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
- Photo in sharp focus and clear.
Photo Size
The photo for each visa applicant must measure:
- The picture dimensions must be 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high at least. A smaller picture will be rejected. For instance, a photo being 235 pixels by 320 pixels is not valid.
- On the other hand, the photo should keep a proportion of 3 x 4 (width x height) within limits. However, 250 x 340 pixels picture would be valid, but not a 290 x 340 pixels one.
- Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 150 Kbytes.
Resolution
- An image resolution is measured in DPI (dots per inch) and it's mainly used to control printing quality. Therefore, higher resolution means better printing quality.
- Photos resolution should be 300 dpi, so, when you scan the image, check this parameter carefully. However, bear in mind that the higher the resolution, the bigger the picture.
Resolution
- The only image format accepted is JPEG (Join Photograph Expert Grup Format). The other image formats such as BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG, etc. will be rejected (a warning will be shown).
Attaching the Photo to the Application form
- Glue one photograph to the application form in the designated space.
Note : If children are traveling with their parents and are included inside the passport of the mother and/or the father, one photograph for each children MUST be glued to the application form of the father or the mother, depending on whom are they traveling with.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photograph presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete.

Processing Time
The processing of the application takes 15 calendar days, but the period of consideration of your visa application by respective consular authority may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days. The Embassy may request further documentation, information or you may be called for an interview which can prolong the processing time.

Application Form
Please take a printout of the Visa application Form. You are required to fill in all details of the applicant in a legible handwriting and submit it along with the required documents to the Visa Application Center.
