Visa Information

Overview

This type of visa is applicable for those who tend to visit Hungary for tourism.

This visa is solely for the purpose of leisure travel including vacationing, cruising, sightseeing and other recreational activities. If during any portion of their visit to Hungary the applicant intends to engage in business, or official duties he/she must refer to other relevant visa categories.

Visa Fees

• Please note: the Visa Fees will need to be paid at the Visa Application Center in Cash/QR Payment in THB only Depend on exchange rate.

• In addition to the above, applicants will also have to pay VFS Service charge of THB 224 (Euro 6.25) at the visa application center.

• All fees are non-refundable.

Photo Specifications

A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:

• Must be an up-to-date photograph (less than 6 months old)
• Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
• Should be passport sized 3.5 x 4.5 cm
• Close up to your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph
• Full face taken straight forward 30 - 36 mm from point of the chin to head of hair
• Taken against a light background
• Without sunglasses
• Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
• Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
• The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
• The mouth must be closed
• If the photographs presented do not meet these requirements, the visa application will be considered incomplete and applicant will be asked to submit new photographs.

Processing Time

The processing time for short-term Schengen visa application is 15 calendar days from the date of arrival at the Embassy (not from the date the visa application was submitted at the Visa application Centre).This period may be extended up to 45 calendar days in certain cases, particularly where additional examination of the original application is required.

Overview

The applications are sent to and assessed by the Embassy of Hungary in Bangkok and transmitted to the Hungarian Immigration, if all documents are in order and complete. The processing time for short-term Schengen visa application is 15 calendar days from the date of arrival at the Embassy (not from the date the visa application was submitted at the Visa application Centre).This period may be extended up to 45 calendar days in certain cases, particularly where additional examination of the original application is required.

Resident DIPLOMATS or embassy personnel should apply directly at the Consulate. Please request an appointment by sending an email (consulate.th@mfa.gov.hu) with your contact details, planned travel date, passport copy and the copy of the Verbal Note about your assignment sent to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. Once the Ministry confirms your assignment, we will schedule you ASAP.

Documents Required

• Application form duly filled and signed in English or Hungarian (https://oif.gov.hu/) Special rules apply for minors;
• Passport with at least 18 months validity. Please note that the validity of the residency permit cannot be longer than 3 months before the expiry of your passport. It should be machine-readable, contain at least two blank pages and should not be older than 10 years;
• One recent passport-size photo. Please note that the photos have to be color and all facial details are clearly visible, including ears. Glasses, masks, hats are not allowed.
• Residence permit handling fee to be paid at the VFS;
• Please note if your application requires the authentication of Power of Attorney or translation you have to make a separate appointment with the Consulate by email (Email) and pay a separate fee BEFORE you go to VFS. You will have to submit the original Power of Attorney and one copy to the VFS. You will get the original back once the VFS officer checks it against the copy;
• Specific supporting documents according to the purpose of travel (see the following link: https://oif.gov.hu/)
• Duly signed authorization if you would like to allow us to communicate with your Hungarian and/or local company/lawyer or family member.
