Short Stay Visa
A visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Latvia for a limited period of time. The short stay C visas can be submitted to Visa Application Centres in Ankara, İstanbul (Harbiye), İstanbul (Altunizade), İzmir, Bursa, Gaziantep, Edirne, İzmir, Antalya and Trabzon.
VFS Global employees can provide you with information and application forms for Latvian visas, but they are not able to provide you with advice regarding which visa you should apply for.

SHORT STAY (C TYPE VISA) – only residents of Turkey
NATIONAL/LONG STAY (D TYPE VISA) – residents of Turkey, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq, Iran, Kosovo, North-Macedonia, Serbia, Syria
The short-term or Schengen visa application can be submitted 6 months before the planned travel.
The long-term of National visa application can be submitted 3 months before the planned travel.

Overview
A business visa is intended for short stay visits only. This category of visa caters for foreign nationals wishing to visit Latvia for work related reasons (to sign the contract, participate in business meeting etc) but does not permit the carrying out the professional activity tantamount to employment.
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.
Jurisdiction to apply for Latvian visa
There is no restrictions on the Latvian visa jurisdiction for applying Prospective applicants are free to apply for Latvian visas from any of the Visa Application centres accross Turkey and collect processed passports from the same.
In addition, all applicants, including applicants under the age of 6 and/or applicants with VIS, must come to the office.

Third country nationals who are spouses of EU nationals are exempt from the visa fee in line with the stipulations of Directive 2004/38/EC OF the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 of April 2004 if they are exercising their right to free movement within the territory of the European Union. This entails travelling with their spouse or joining them in an EU Member State other than the country of origin of their spouse. In this context, spouses of Latvian nationals travelling to Latvia are not exercising their right to free movement and are consequently not exempt from the visa fee.
Visa application fee for citizens of the countries with which the European Union has concluded agreements on the facilitation of the issuance of visas:
For nationals of Belarus and Ukraine – the standard processing fee for a visa application (within 10 calendar days) – 35 EUR
For nationals of Ukraine – express processing service for an urgent visa application (within 3 days) – 70 EUR
For nationals of Belarus – express processing service for an urgent visa application (within 2 days) – 70 EUR
For nationals of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Moldova – for standard processing of a visa application – 35 EUR
Attention Please :
- In addition to the visa fee, a 25.50 Euro service fee shall be charged for each application if no biometric data has been submitted prior to the current application, and a 24.5 Euro fee if the applicant has submitted his/her biometric data to while applying for a Schengen visa earlier
- All payments are accepted only in Euro - and in cash.
- All payments are non-refundable.
- Courier is an optional service which will be charged 12 Euro.
- Credit Card is not valid for the payments.

Photo Specifications
A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up-to-date photograph (dated max 6 month old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be sized between 35 – 45 mm
- Full face taken straight forward 30 mm from point of the chin to top of hair
- Taken against a white background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes

Processing Time
C type (Schengen) visa applications shall be lodged no more than six months, and for seafarers in the performance of their duties no more than nine months, before the start of the intended visit, ad, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of intended visit.
Applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days after their arrival at the Embassy. That period may be extended up to 45 calendar days in individual cases, when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
Under Regulation No 554 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia "Regulations Regarding the States for the Citizens of which in issuing a Visa or Residence Permit an Additional Examination shall be performed", nationals of these states/ territories are subjects of additional consultations
We advise to submit the application well in advance.
Third countries for the nationals of which prior consultations or notification is required

Overview
A tourist visa is intended for short stay visits only. This category of visas caters to foreign nationals wishing to visit Latvia for touristic purposes either through buying a tour via a travel agency, or by making ticket and hotel reservations individually.
Jurisdiction to apply for a Latvian visa
There are no restrictions on the jurisdiction for applying for a Latvian visa. Prospective applicants are free to apply for Latvian visas from any of the Visa Application Centers across Turkey and collect processed passports from the same center.
In addition, all applicants, including applicants under the age of 6 and/or applicants with VIS, must come to the office.

Sports and Cultural category visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Latvia for a limited period of time. This category of visa caters for people wishing to visit Latvia with purpose of participation in Scientific, Cultural or Sport event.
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.

EU/ EEZ Citizen (not Latvia) Family Members Traveling Together With Them

Overview
Spouse of Latvian nationals visiting family and friends visa is for short stay visits only. This category of visa caters for applicants wishing to visit his/her spouse of Latvian national. Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category. Please note that; spouses of Latvian nationals travelling to Latvia are not exempt from the visa fee. They are subject to pay the regular visa fee mentioned in “Visa Fees” tab on this website.

Third country nationals who are spouses of EU nationals are exempt from the visa fee in line with the stipulations of Directive 2004/38/EC OF the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 of April 2004 if they are exercising their right to free movement within the territory of the European Union. This entails travelling with their spouse or joining them in an EU Member State other than the country of origin of their spouse. In this context, spouses of Latvian nationals travelling to Latvia are not exercising their right to free movement and are consequently not exempt from the visa fee.
Visa application fee for citizens of the countries with which the European Union has concluded agreements on the facilitation of the issuance of visas:
For nationals of Belarus and Ukraine – the standard processing fee for a visa application (within 10 calendar days) – 35 EUR
For nationals of Ukraine – express processing service for an urgent visa application (within 3 days) – 70 EUR
For nationals of Belarus – express processing service for an urgent visa application (within 2 days) – 70 EUR
For nationals of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Moldova – for standard processing of a visa application – 35 EUR

- In addition to the visa fee, a 25.50 Euro service fee shall be charged for each application if no biometric data has been submitted prior to the current application, and a 24.5 Euro fee if the applicant has submitted his/her biometric data to while applying for a Schengen visa earlier

Processing Time
C type (Schengen) visa applications shall be lodged no more than six months, and for seafarers in the performance of their duties no more than nine months, before the start of the intended visit, ad, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of intended visit.
Applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days after their arrival at the Embassy. That period may be extended up to 45 calendar days in individual cases, when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
Under Regulation No 554 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia "Regulations Regarding the States for the Citizens of which in issuing a Visa or Residence Permit an Additional Examination shall be performed", nationals of these states/ territories are subjects of additional consultations
We advise to submit the application well in advance.
