Overview
Tourist visa is granted for those where the intention is to visit Sweden for tourism and sightseeing without having an invitation from a Swedish referent.

Visa Fees
Consular fee per customer 1083 UAH/35 €* (Visa for citizens of Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and Moldova as per Visa Facilitation agreements) 2474 / 1237 UAH 80/40 EUR (For other nationalities according to the Visa Code) 0 € (Visa for child, Ukrainian national under 18 years of age and as specified in the facilitation agreement) 2165 UAH/ 70 EUR (Urgent Visa, if applicable. Visa Facilitation Agreements between the European Community and the countries of Ukraine, Russia and Moldova, determine the visa fees. For other nationalities the fees are determined by the Visa Code of EU. All paid consular and service fees are non-refundable despite of the decision.

Documents Required
In general the applicant is advised to provide documentation in original. Additional documentation may be required. In case the applicant cannot give the VAC the original version of the document, a copy must be added and the original shown at the VAC.
General requirements:
- Visa application form duly completed, filled in English or Swedish and signed by the applicant.
- One recent passport size color photograph glued to the application.
- Foreign passport issued within the last 10 years, valid at least three months after the scheduled return and contain at least 2 empty pages for the visas. Also all valid passports must be shown in original, as well as previous foreign passports, or if not available, in copy. In case of previous foreign passport, there can be photocopies of previous visas and stamps presented. In case of second valid foreign passport, all copies should be presented. In case a passport has been annulled or stolen, there has to be a note of it in applicant’s domestic passport or a document from the authorities proofing that the passport was stolen.
- Copy of the first page of the foreign passport and copies of all the pages in the foreign passport containing previous visas
- Original of a domestic passport to be shown at submission and copies of all 16 pages.
- Original and copy of Travel Medical Insurance (TMI) to be provided when applying for the visa covering all Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of 30.000 Euro for: repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical treatment and emergency admission to hospital treatment during the stay in the territory of the Schengen states. Original of TMI should be shown at the time of documents submission. The insurance must cover 100% of the costs. When applying for single entry visa in addition to the planned duration of stay TMI should have extra 15 days of grace period.When applying for a multiple entry visa, the travel insurance must be valid for the first trip and applicant needs to have Travel Medical Insurance for any subsequent visits to the territory of Member States.
- Proof of finances/ maintenance certificate showing sufficient financial means for your upkeep and for the journey home. As per the Swedish authorities you need 450 SEK (or equal in another currency) per day to support yourself during stay in Sweden not including costs for lodging and transportation. Such documents can be e.g. bank statement and activity over the last three months or traveler checks under the name of the applicant, duly signed, presented in original and copy. If the person who is inviting you to Sweden will be paying for your support, you must show in the same way that he/she has enough money to do so.
- Proof of professional activity in Ukraine:
- For employed persons: employment certificate confirming the position of the employee, his/her gained salary within a period of 6 months, the date of employment and the term of vacation AND license/registration of the employer company.
- For unemployed persons (including pensioners, students): proof of sufficient financial means: a document that shows that the host, a family member of the applicant or someone else is covering the expenses
- For the self employed person: Certificate of registration of the company in Ukraine, tax declaration for the last 2 quarters, extract from bank account.
- For pensioneers: copy of pension card. Original of pension card should be shown at the time of documents submission.
- For students: certificate from educational institution confirming the type of education (full- time/part-time) and that the applicant can return to the study.
- In case of minors applying additional documents should be logged along with the application:
- The original of a birth certificate and a copy along with the other documents proving the family ties.
- A written consent from parents/guardians valid for the whole duration of stay in Schengen area and for all Schengen countries: original and a copy, original to be shown while submission. While applying for single entry visa in addition to the planned duration of stay consent should have extra 15 days of grace period.
- In case a child travels alone, there has to be a written consent from both of the parents/guardians.
- If the applicant is travelling with one of the parents/guardians, there has to be a written consent from the other.
- Important: If one of the parents is travelling together with the child but does not submit his/her visa application along with the child (e.g. already has valid Schengen visa) he/she still needs to submit a legalized written consent. Copies of parent’s passport, either national or international should also be submitted.
- For non-Ukrainian citizens: a copy of Ukrainian residence permit or a work permit and the original to be shown at submission. Ukrainian residence permit should be valid at least three months (90 days) after the scheduled return from Schengen area.
- Documents proving purpose of travel as a tourist
- A hotel or other reservation confirmation in case of individually planned trip
- An accompanying letter from an accredited travel agency, if the trip is organized by the travel agency.
- A detailed travel plan
- Reservation of tickets or proof of other means of transport, e.g. plane, bus, train, ferry or proof of other means of transport, if not included in confirmation of booking of the organized trip.
Important: all documents except internal passport must be submitted along with official translation in English or Swedish.

Photo Specifications
Please note that in case submission of biometrics during application submission at the Visa Centre photo is not mandatory.
All customers exempted from the biometric data submission while applying for a visa should submit photograph along with the visa application form.
ATTENTION! In case if photo is older than 6 months the documents will not be accepted.A Photograph submitted with the application form should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up to date photograph (preferably max 6 months old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be passport sized 3,5 х 4,5 сm
- Face should take 70-80% of the photograph
- Full face taken straight forward 30-36 mm from point of the chin to head
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat of other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be closed

Processing Time
The normal processing time for Ukrainian nationals is 10 calendar days according to the visa facilitation agreement between the European Community and Ukraine. For the nationals of those countries who do not have a visa facilitation agreement, the processing time is 15 calendar days.
Fast Track: 3 calendar days for Ukrainian Nationals is possible, if the urgency is proven. Also PROVIDED that the supporting documents are not inadequate and the application DOES NOT need more information.
Please note that you may be required to appear before a Visa Officer for a personal interview at the Embassy of Sweden in Kyiv prior to a decision being taken on your application. Embassy also reserves the right to ask for additional supporting documents during the visa application process. Customers are requested to read the information on this site carefully. - A written invitation from a host legal person or company, or an office or branch of such legal person or company, state and local authorities of Sweden or organizing committees of trade and industrial exhibitions, conferences and symposia held in Sweden. The invitation should contain data of the host company, full name, date of birth and nationality of the invited person, purpose, date, duration of visit, number of scheduled trips, as well as who is responsible for the financial support of the customer in Sweden. The invitation should be signed by the inviting person and include the seal of the host company or organization. It is possible to apply with a scanned copy of this invitation.
Cultural visit:
- An invitation from the host organization organising the event in Sweden, showing both the duration and purpose of the visit and who will be responsible for supporting you financially during your stay.
Study visit:
- If the purpose is study visit for pupils/students – a written request or a certificate of enrolment from the host university, college or school or student cards or certificates of the courses to be attended.
Important: all documents except internal passport must be submitted along with official translation in English or Swedish.

- Invitation from the host person stating the host’s contact information and the full name, date of birth and citizenship of the invited person, purpose, time, duration of the visit, number of entries as well as who is responsible for the financial support of the customer in Sweden. It is also required to submit the copy of the inviting person’s residence permit /Passport/ civic registration
- Civic registration/family certificate “personbevis” for the relative in Sweden. Such a document for the purpose of an invitation may be ordered from Skatteverket, the Swedish Tax Agency
- And – if the relative/friend will be paying for your support in Sweden – his/her pay slip, work certificate, pension statement or statement of account for the past 6 months.
Important:
All documents except internal passport must be submitted along with official translation in English or Swedish.
Documents concerning the relative or friend you plan to visit in Sweden must not be older than three months. If close family ties exists to a person in Sweden having been granted a permanent residence permit or is a Swedish citizen, it is possible to apply for a visa valid for up to 5 years. Close family ties can be: spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandchildren and grandparents.
In case of travelling to siblings, customer can submit documents on the visa category “Visiting Friends and Relatives”.

Documents Required
In general the customer is advised to provide documentation in original. Additional documentation may be required. In case the customer cannot give the VAC the original version of the document, a copy must be added and the original shown at the VAC.
General requirements:
- Visa application form duly completed, filled in English or Swedish and signed by the customer.
- One recent passport size color photograph glued to the application.
- Foreign passport issued within the last 10 years, valid at least three months after the scheduled return and contain at least 2 empty pages for the visas. Also all valid passports must be shown in original, as well as previous foreign passports, or if not available, in copy. In case of previous foreign passport, there can be photocopies of previous visas and stamps presented. In case of second valid foreign passport, all copies should be presented.. In case a passport has been annulled or stolen, there has to be a note of it in customer’s domestic passport or a document from the authorities proofing that the passport was stolen.
- Copy of the first page of the foreign passport and copies of all the pages in the foreign passport containing previous visas
- Original of a domestic passport to be shown at submission and copies of all 16 pages.
- Original and copy of Travel Medical Insurance (TMI) to be provided when applying for the visa covering all Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of 30.000 Euro for: repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical treatment and emergency admission to hospital treatment during the stay in the territory of the Schengen states. Original of TMI should be shown at the time of documents submission. The insurance must cover 100% of the costs. When applying for single entry visa in addition to the planned duration of stay TMI should have extra 15 days of grace period.When applying for a multiple entry visa, the travel insurance must be valid for the first trip and customer needs to have Travel Medical Insurance for any subsequent visits to the territory of Member States.
- Proof of finances/ maintenance certificate showing sufficient financial means for your upkeep and for the journey home. As per the Swedish authorities you need 450 SEK (or equal in another currency) per day to support yourself during stay in Sweden not including costs for lodging and transportation. Such documents can be e.g. bank statement and activity over the last three months or traveler checks under the name of the customer, duly signed, presented in original and copy. If the person who is inviting you to Sweden will be paying for your support, you must show in the same way that he/she has enough money to do so.
- Proof of professional activity in Ukraine:
- For employed persons: employment certificate confirming the position of the employee, his/her gained salary within a period of 6 months, the date of employment and the term of vacation AND license/registration of the employer company.
- For unemployed persons (including pensioners, students): proof of sufficient financial means: a document that shows that the host, a family member of the customer or someone else is covering the expenses
- For the self employed person: Certificate of registration of the company in Ukraine, tax declaration for the last 2 quarters, extract from bank account.
- For pensioneers: copy of pension card. Original of pension card should be shown at the time of documents submission.
- For students: certificate from educational institution confirming the type of education (full- time/part-time) and that the customer can return to the study.
- In case of minors applying additional documents should be logged along with the application:
- The original of a birth certificate and a copy along with the other documents proving the family ties.
- A written consent from parents/guardians valid for the whole duration of stay in Schengen area and for all Schengen countries: original and a copy, original to be shown while submission. While applying for single entry visa in addition to the planned duration of stay consent should have extra 15 days of grace period.
- In case a child travels alone, there has to be a written consent from both of the parents/guardians.
- If the customer is travelling with one of the parents/guardians, there has to be a written consent from the other.
- Important: If one of the parents is travelling together with the child but does not submit his/her visa application along with the child (e.g. already has valid Schengen visa) he/she still needs to submit a legalized written consent. Copies of parent’s passport, either national or international should also be submitted.
- For non-Ukrainian citizens: a copy of Ukrainian residence permit or a work permit and the original to be shown at submission. Ukrainian residence permit should be valid at least three months (90 days) after the scheduled return from Schengen area.
- Documents proving purpose of travel for visiting family and friends:
- Invitation from the host person stating the host’s contact information and the full name, date of birth and citizenship of the invited person, purpose, time, duration of the visit, number of entries as well as who is responsible for the financial support of the customer in Sweden. It is also required to submit the copy of the inviting person’s residence permit /Passport/ civic registration
- Civic registration/family certificate “personbevis” for the relative in Sweden. Such a document for the purpose of an invitation may be ordered from Skatteverket, the Swedish Tax Agency
- And – if the relative/friend will be paying for your support in Sweden – his/her pay slip, work certificate, pension statement or statement of account for the past 6 months.
Important:
All documents except internal passport must be submitted along with official translation in English or Swedish.
Documents concerning the relative or friend you plan to visit in Sweden must not be older than three months.

Please note that in case submission of biometrics during application submission at the Visa Centre photo is not mandatory.
All customers exempted from the biometric data submission while applying for a visa should submit photograph along with the visa application form.
ATTENTION! In case if photo is older than 6 months the documents will not be accepted.A Photograph submitted with the application form should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up to date photograph (preferably max 6 months old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be passport sized 3,5 х 4,5 сm
- Face should take 70-80% of the photograph
- Full face taken straight forward 30-36 mm from point of the chin to head
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat of other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons

The normal processing time for Ukrainian nationals is 10 calendar days according to the visa facilitation agreement between the European Community and Ukraine. For the nationals of those countries who do not have a visa facilitation agreement, the processing time is 15 calendar days.
Fast Track: 3 calendar days for Ukrainian Nationals is possible, if the urgency is proven. Also PROVIDED that the supporting documents are not inadequate and the application DOES NOT need more information.

- A written invitation either from “Association of International Road Carriers” (AsMAP), State Enterprise “Service on International Road Carriages” (SE “SIRC”), “Ukrainian Road Transport and Logistics Union”, or from “All-Ukrainian Association of Automobile carriers” (AAAC). In the invitation it should be stated the purpose of the trips, the length and the frequency.
- Lorry Drivers employed by companies that are not the members of any of the above mentioned organisations also need to submit the Invitation from the Swedish Company, for which the transports should be made. A copy of work book and drivers license for the lorry driver in original with copies also required.
- Introduction letter from your employer including your position, how long you have been working for the company, what your salary is and purpose of the visit. The letter should contain contact information to the company, the name of the person signing as well as his/her signature. If you are a private entrepreneur you should submit the registration certificate for the company.
- Original CMR with Photocopy, License and List of Workbook.

- A copy of a certificate or other document issued by the competent Ukrainian professional organization proving that the person concerned is a qualified (professional) journalist, for ex. national professional journalist’s card. The original to be shown at submission. A certificate or another document issued by either “National Union of Journalists of Ukraine” (NUJU), “Independent Media Union of Ukraine” (IMUU), “Kyiv Independent Media Union” (KIMU), “Academy of Ukrainian Press” (AUP), or “Regional Press Development Institute” (RPDI), that proves that the customer is a qualified journalist travelling to Sweden to carry our journalistic work
- Proof that the person is a member of the technical crew accompanying the journalist in a professional capacity.

In case of previous foreign passport, there can be photocopies of previous visas and stamps presented. In case of second valid foreign passport, all copies should be presented.. In case a passport has been annulled or stolen, there has to be a note of it in customer’s domestic passport or a document from the authorities proofing that the passport was stolen.
- Copy of the first page of the foreign passport and copies of all the pages in the foreign passport containing previous visas
- Original of a domestic passport to be shown at submission and copies of all 16 pages.
- Original and copy of Travel Medical Insurance (TMI) to be provided when applying for the visa covering all Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of 30.000 Euro for: repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical treatment and emergency admission to hospital treatment during the stay in the territory of the Schengen states. Original of TMI should be shown at the time of documents submission. The insurance must cover 100% of the costs. When applying for single entry visa in addition to the planned duration of stay TMI should have extra 15 days of grace period.When applying for a multiple entry visa, the travel insurance must be valid for the first trip and customer needs to have Travel Medical Insurance for any subsequent visits to the territory of Member States.
- Proof of finances/ maintenance certificate showing sufficient financial means for your upkeep and for the journey home. As per the Swedish authorities you need 450 SEK (or equal in another currency) per day to support yourself during stay in Sweden not including costs for lodging and transportation. Such documents can be e.g. bank statement and activity over the last three months or traveler checks under the name of the customer, duly signed, presented in original and copy. If the person who is inviting you to Sweden will be paying for your support, you must show in the same way that he/she has enough money to do so.
- Proof of professional activity in Ukraine:
- For employed persons: employment certificate confirming the position of the employee, his/her gained salary within a period of 6 months, the date of employment and the term of vacation AND license/registration of the employer company.
- For unemployed persons (including pensioners, students): proof of sufficient financial means: a document that shows that the host, a family member of the customer or someone else is covering the expenses
- For the self employed person: Certificate of registration of the company in Ukraine, tax declaration for the last 2 quarters, extract from bank account.
- For pensioneers: copy of pension card. Original of pension card should be shown at the time of documents submission.
- For students: certificate from educational institution confirming the type of education (full- time/part-time) and that the customer can return to the study.
- In case of minors applying additional documents should be logged along with the application:
- The original of a birth certificate and a copy along with the other documents proving the family ties.
- A written consent from parents/guardians valid for the whole duration of stay in Schengen area and for all Schengen countries: original and a copy, original to be shown while submission. While applying for single entry visa in addition to the planned duration of stay consent should have extra 15 days of grace period.
- In case a child travels alone, there has to be a written consent from both of the parents/guardians.
- If the customer is travelling with one of the parents/guardians, there has to be a written consent from the other.
- Important: If one of the parents is travelling together with the child but does not submit his/her visa application along with the child (e.g. already has valid Schengen visa) he/she still needs to submit a legalized written consent. Copies of parent’s passport, either national or international should also be submitted.
- For non-Ukrainian citizens: a copy of Ukrainian residence permit or a work permit and the original to be shown at submission. Ukrainian residence permit should be valid at least three months (90 days) after the scheduled return from Schengen area.
Documents proving purpose of travel for sports, scientific, artistic, cultural and study visit.
Sport visit:
- A written and signed request from the host organization: competent authority, national sport Federation or National Olympic Committee stating the host’s contact information, name of the invited club/team and the purpose of the visit: name, date and duration of the sport event as well as mention of the participation fee. Also a list of participants should be enclosed stating the full name, date of birth, citizenship and function of each participant.
- An accompanying letter from local sports federation stating the name of invited club/team and the purpose of the visit: name, date and duration of the sport event. Also information about who covers the costs should be indicated. A list of participants should be enclosed stating the full name, date of birth, citizenship and function of each participant.
Important: all documents except internal passport must be submitted along with official translation in English or Swedish.

Photo Specifications
Please note that in case submission of biometrics during application submission at the Visa Centre photo is not mandatory.
All customers exempted from the biometric data submission while applying for a visa should submit photograph along with the visa application form.
ATTENTION! In case if photo is older than 6 months the documents will not be accepted.A Photograph submitted with the application form should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up to date photograph (preferably max 6 months old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be passport sized 3,5 х 4,5 сm
- Face should take 70-80% of the photograph
- Full face taken straight forward 30-36 mm from point of the chin to head
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat of other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be closed

Processing Time
The normal processing time for Ukrainian nationals is 10 calendar days according to the visa facilitation agreement between the European Community and Ukraine. For the nationals of those countries who do not have a visa facilitation agreement, the processing time is 15 calendar days.
Fast Track: 3 calendar days for Ukrainian Nationals is possible, if the urgency is proven. Also PROVIDED that the supporting documents are not inadequate and the application DOES NOT need more information.
Please note that you may be required to appear before a Visa Officer for a personal interview at the Embassy of Sweden in Kyiv prior to a decision being taken on your application. Embassy also reserves the right to ask for additional supporting documents during the visa application process. Customers are requested to read the information on this site carefully.
