Biometric Data Collection
Biometrics will be collected using a quick, discreet and non-intrusive process that captures a facial image with a digital camera and a 10-digit fingerprint scan using a digital scanner.
[Please Note: If you refuse to submit your biometrics and you are not subject to any exception according to EU regulation (being under 12 years of age, being a Head of State, etc.), your visa application will not be accepted.]
Your face must be clearly visible for a photograph to be taken. As per specifications by the diplomatic mission:
- Ensure that hair does not cover the eyes Wear a hat or scarf or any other item that conceals the face, hair or neck (with the exception of religious head coverings detailed below):
(Please Note: If you wear a head or neck accessory for religious reasons, clear visibility of your facial features from bottom of chin to top of foreheadand both edges of your face must be ensured.)
Applicants who are under 12 years of age, or those physically unable to provide a fingerprint scan, are required to only provide a facial photograph.
If an applicant is between 12 to 18years of age , aparent or legal guardian is required to provide written consent and be present when biometrics is collected

What happens if I refuse to give my biometric?

Will my fingerprints be captured again at the Schengen borders’ immigration control?
Yes, immigration officers at the Schengen borders might ask to have fingerprints captured again to verify the identity of the visa holder.
