  • Temporary closure of Portugal Visa Application Centres in Iran

Update for Iranian or third country nationals whose passport is in Portugal visa application centre

In light of the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) alert, please note that our application centre for Portugal in Tehran will remain closed.

Starting from 17 March 2020, we will not be accepting new appointments or application submission and we will be in contact with customers who currently have appointments during this period to discuss alternative arrangements.

Where possible, for 17 March 2020 we will begin returning passports currently held in the VAC to customers, via courier, where courier return has been requested.

If your passport is currently held in a VAC, but you have not previously arranged for it to be returned by courier, you may collect the passport by visiting the visa application centre as per the passport collection timings: 09 :00 hrs to 16 :00 hrs between Sunday to Thursday.

We continue to monitor the situation and updates on when the Portugal VAC will re-open will be available on this page.

  • Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have ordered temporary suspension of flights to Iran in the wake of the latest Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread. This has led to some delays across courier routes in the region that have impacted Portugal Visa operations.

We will be in contact with customers who currently have appointments for the submission of Long Term Visa during this period to discuss alternative arrangements.

We will keep the situation under review and when the service can be offered again, we will post an update on this page.
