If a visa application is submitted three days before the travel date, a visa fee of EUR 70 or the equivalent in Russian roubles might be charged. Please note that the three-day period starts running with the arrival of the application to the Embassy. The visa fee does not affect the validity period of the visa.

Please note that the final decision on waiving the visa fee is taken by the Embassy.

VFS SERVICE CHARGE

Apart from the visa fee, a VFS service charge of the equivalent of 25,5 EUR in Russian Roubles inclusive of VAT per application will be levied for applicants applying at the visa application centre.

INFORMATION ON PAYMENTS

  • Visa fee and VFS service charge can be paid at the visa application centre in cash or by credit/debit card (MasterCard or Visa)..
  • The VFS service charge is non-refundable.
  • The VFS service charge is waived for the following applicants: children under 6 years of age and persons with a disability and their accompanying persons
  • You can pay in Russian Roubles only.
  • The visa application centre in Moscow is equipped with an ATM.
  • The applicable visa fee in Russian Roubles is as per the current exchange rate form the the European Central Bank.
  • Visa fees are non-refundable, except in cases they have been levied in error. In this case, the visa fee is refunded in cash in one of the visa application centres or is transferred to the credit/debit card.

Documents Required

This list will help you prepare the necessary documents to apply for a short-term visa. Supporting documents (originals and copies) should be provided in Russian or English.

Please note that each applicant should submit their own set of documents according to their purpose of travel.

Please note that the Embassy may also request additional documents or information if this is necessary for the consideration of the application.

  1. Visa application form fully completed and signed by the applicant. For minors, the application should be signed by a permanent or temporary parental authority or a legal guardian. Application may be completed in Slovene, English or Russian.
  2. International passport valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States of the Schengen Agreement, containing at least two blank pages and not older than ten years. If available, previous passport with Schengen visas should also be enclosed.
  3. 1 photo that meets the ICAO requirements.
  4. Visa fee in accordance with the categories specified in the visa facilitation agreement between the EU and the Russian Federation and the Visa Code.
  5. Medical insurance that covers the entire period of stay or first trip and is valid throughout the territory of the member states of the Schengen Agreement. It must cover all costs that may arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death, during the applicant's stay(s) on the territory of the Member States. The minimum coverage should be 30 000 euros.
  6. Copy of the internal passport (issued at the age of 14): pages concerning the applicant's biodata, foreign passport(s) issued to him/her, his/her marital status and registration in Russia.
  7. Minors:
    • Copy of the birth certificate.
    • Consent of the parental authority or legal guardian if the minor travels alone or only with one parent. Exception is made in cases where the single parent with whom the minor is to travel holds the parental authority alone (i.e. in cases where the other parent has deceased or been deprived of custody, e.g. a death certificate of the other parent or a court degree vesting custody exclusively in the parent who is signing the application should be provided).
    • Copy of the valid Schengen visa of the parent(s) travelling with the minor for whom a visa is not applied at the same time with the parent(s).
  8. Non-Russian nationals: proof of legal residence in the Russian Federation in line with federal legislation (e.g. residence permit, long-term visa or FMS registration), valid for at least three months after the planned return from the territory of the Member States or a document proving that the applicant has applied for a renewal of proof of legal residence.

    If not resident, proof of legal presence in the Russian Federation and justification for submitting visa application in the Russian Federation instead of the country of residence.

As per category of traveller:

  • Participants in scientific, cultural and artistic activities:

    • WRITTEN REQUEST (letter of guarantee) from the host organisation which must be certified by the internal administrative authorities of the Republic of Slovenia – UPRAVNA ENOTA. A copy of the letter of guarantee with the seal of the administrative authority and the registration number clearly visible is sufficient.
    • In case not included in the written request, a SEPARATE STATEMENT ON SPONSORSHIP either from the sending or receiving party (or other proof of financial means).
  • Pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers:

    • WRITTEN REQUEST (letter of guarantee) OR CERTIFICATE OF ENROLMENT OR STUDENT CARD by the host university, academy, institute, college or school or certificate of the courses to be attended. The letter of guarantee must be certified by the internal administrative authorities of the Republic of Slovenia – UPRAVNA ENOTA. A copy of the letter of guarantee with the seal of the administrative authority and the registration number clearly visible is sufficient.
    • In case not included in the written request, a separate STATEMENT ON SPONSORSHIP either from the sending or receiving party (or other proof of financial means).

      *** IF PARENTS ARE SPONSORS: sponsorship letter + proof of family tie + copy of the first page of the sponsor's internal passport + any proof of financial means of the sponsor in the original).

    • STUDENT CARD OR COPY OF CERTIFICATE OF ENROLMENT issued by the educational institution in Russian Federation.
  • Participants in international sports events and accompanying persons in their professional capacity:

    • WRITTEN REQUEST (letter of guarantee) from the host organisation (competent authority, national sport federation or national Olympic committee), including information on the role of the persons, which must be certified by the internal administrative authorities of the Republic of Slovenia – UPRAVNA ENOTA. A copy of the letter of guarantee with the seal of the administrative authority and the registration number clearly visible is sufficient.
    • In case not included in the written request, a SEPARATE STATEMENT ON SPONSORSHIP either from the sending or receiving party (or other proof of financial means).

      *** IF PARENTS ARE SPONSORS: sponsorship letter + proof of family tie + copy of the first page of the sponsor's internal passport + any proof of financial means of the sponsor in the original).

Photo Specifications

Please read the specifications for photographs carefully before submitting your visa application. 

The photo needs to display a full frontal view of the face. The size of the face from the bottom of your chin to the hairline must be between 32mm (1 ΒΌ inches) and 36mm (1 3/8 inches). Please look directly into the camera with a neutral expression and without smiling. The maximal height is 45 mm. 

The facial image must be sharp, clear, and with sufficient contrast. Please avoid photos with reflections or shadows on the face or with red eyes. The background should be neutral and light, providing sufficient contrast to the face and hair (we recommend a neutral grey). Reflection from glasses, sunglasses or tinted glasses is not permitted. The eyes cannot be hidden by the glass frames.

The photo needs to be printed on high-quality paper with at least 300 dpi resolution; the colours must present a natural appearance and skin tone. The photo must not have kinks, scratches or stains on it. The photo must not have been produced with the help of a graphics editing program.

Two recent passport size photos for each person included in the application. Please note that photos should be not older than 6 months.

Due to the stringent requirements around the Photo required for your application, we recommend you utilize the photo services available inside the Visa Application Center. This will provide you assurance that your application is submitted with the photograph that meets the specifications and will be acceptable to the Embassy. You will have ready photographs in 45 seconds.

When applying for a Schengen visa, you can either:

Kindly note that according to the requirements of the Slovenian Embassy the full address including postal code should be mentioned in the visa application form.

The completed application form has to be submitted along with the other required documents.

Applicants can have their Schengen application forms filled in at one of the visa applications centres by paying 350 Roubles per application form. The form filling service is voluntary and does not influence the decision on the application.
