Medical Visa

Overview

This visa allows you to stay and receive medical care within the Schengen territory as stated on your visa. To avoid any disappointment, applicants are advised to submit their complete files at least three working weeks before the intended date of departure although you may also submit your visa application up to 06 months prior to your intended date of travel.

Basic Requirements:

To ensure application is processed without any delay, following have to be adhered to.

  • A Complete and signed visa application form.
  • Original Passport and three (3) clear copies of one’s current passport datapage.
  • Supporting documentation as per relevant checklist

  • Guarantees for return (assessment of migration risk): The applicant is requested to provide as much information as possible to document his/her family background, professional and socio-economic status, ownership of land or real estate (for instance : proof of family bonds with his/her country of origin, proof of regular income and stable source of revenues from the applicant and/or his/her partner, proof of property, etc.)

    This information is essential to correctly judge the intention of the applicant to leave the Schengen area before the expiry of his/her visa.

Applicants are requested to read carefully the list of required documents that need to be submitted together with their visa application. Please make sure that you have all the documents indicated in the list, since an incomplete file can lead to the refusal of your visa.

Applicant's exempted from visa fee:

  • Child less than 6 years of age applying for short term visa.
  • The spouse, children who have not yet reached their 21st birthday and dependent parents of a Belgian or other EU citizen are not required to pay the visa fee.
  • chool pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training;
  • researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research as defined in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 to facilitate the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research ( 1 )

  • The visa application fee submitted and cancelled on same application day would be refundable but non transferable.

Photo Specifications

Applicants are requested to submit their Application form with the new photo format, as explained below.

Photospecification

General

  • The photograph for each visa applicant must be an unmounted, full face photo, as displayed above
  • The photograph must have been taken within the last six months.
  • The photograph must be submitted glued to the application form

Photo Size

The photo for each visa applicant submitted must measure:

  • 3.5 cms x 4.5 cms with the head centered in the frame.
  • The head (measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin) should measure about 3 cms

Photo Appearance

  • The photograph must be a full-face front view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly.
  • Face should cover about 60-70 percent of the photo area.
  • The photograph MUST be in color and have only a white background. Photos with dark, busy, or patterned backgrounds will not be accepted.
  • General, the applicant's head, including both face and hair, should be shown from the crown of the head to the tip of the chin on top and bottom and from hairline side-to-side. It is preferable that ears be exposed

  • Photograph depicting a person wearing a traditional facemask or veil that does not permit adequate identification is not acceptable

Processing Time

All visa applications are being treated as fast as possible and according to the date of submission, the date of travel and the quality of the visa file. Applicants are therefore strongly recommended to apply timely and with a complete visa file.
