Introduction
The Consulate General of Greece in Johannesburg and the Consulate of Greece in Cape Town are pleased to announce the opening of Visa Application Centres operated by VFS Visa Processing South Africa Pty Ltd. in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

The visa applications are to be submitted at the Greece Visa Application Centres in Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town. All applications will be assessed by the competent Greek Consulate in South Africa (i.e. by the Consulate General of Greece in Johannesburg for the visa applications submitted in Johannesburg and in Durban and by the Consulate of Greece in Cape Town for the visa applications submitted in Cape Town).
The Greece Visa Application Centres offer the option of courier service for return of your documents submitted to us, directly at your doorstep.

For Prospective Applicants

Applicants who wish to apply for a Visa are requested to kindly read the information on this site carefully. The guidelines listed on this site are to help you prepare your documents as accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being incomplete or delay it being processed.

Please note that you may be required to appear in person for an interview at the competent Greek Consulate in South Africa prior to a decision being taken on your application.

Please note that as of 6th June 2013 the Johannesburg Greece Visa Application Centre will be accepting applications. Durban and Cape Town Greece Visa Application Centres will go live on the 18th June 2013.
 
Visa Application Process
Step 1 : Only Short term Schengen visas are accepted at the VFS application centre. Please go to the link “All about your Visas” to understand details of Short Stay Schengen Visas. All applications submitted at the Greece Visa Application Centres in Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town are processed by VFS.
Step 2 : Under the new visa system (VIS) being implemented by all Schengen missions in South Africa as of June 6, 2013, all visa applicants, over 12 years of age, must submit their application in person in order for their biometric data (10 fingerprints and digital photo) to be taken. Subsequent Schengen visa applications within 5 years may be submitted through authorized representative.

Important
  The visa fee can be paid in advance and to our bank account before handing in the application or by Credit/Debit Card. Please remember to bring/submit your original deposit slip and please put your passport number as a reference.

Step 3 : Applications submitted at the Greece Visa Application Centre(s) for processing are thereafter forwarded to the competent Greek Consulate in South Africa for the decision.

Important - Visa applications take up to 15 calendar days to process.

Some applications may require further processing, which could take from 30 to 60 days.
