Overview

A residence permit is given only upon approval by Danish Immigration Service in Copenhagen – the process may take 4 to 6 months. Application forms can be downloaded (Please note that each of the application forms for Danish residence and work permits has been developed for a specific type of applicant).

Note: From the 01 July 2019, you must fill in your visa application and pay the visa application fee online using ApplyVisa.um.dk

Please Note:

  • The applicable VFS service fee is as per the current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice.
  • The visa fee should only be paid online at the time of form filling and service fee needs to be paid by cash at the implant bank counter in the application center at Bamako.
  • The service fee is inclusive VAT and is non-refundable and non -transferable.
  • Visa Application Centre offers an optional service at a nominal additional cost. Please see more detail from Additional Services tab.

Mandatory documents for online applications and applications submitted by the company in Denmark

  • A print of the confirmation that the application was submitted online (the confirmation has information about case order ID)
  • Valid original travel document
  • Other required supporting documents followed by rightfully translated versions according to the list covering the specific application form

Photo Specifications

Size of photograph for visa applications

After the instalment of a new system for scanning biometrics, including photographs for visa application, it is now possible to lodge a photograph of size 35 x 45 mm. Length of the head should not exceed 30 to 36 mm in length from chin to top of hair.

The photograph must still be in color with bright background.

Danish Visa Application Centre has been instructed by Danish mission to inform applicants that the visa application is not acceptable if the photograph does not comply with the above format.

Applicants may therefore obtain a new photograph that meets all requirements before The Danish Visa Application Centre can receive the application.

Processing time

A residence permit is given only upon approval by Danish Immigration Service in Copenhagen – the process may take 4 to 6 months. Such a permit is valid for Denmark only, not the entire Schengen-area. Application forms can be downloaded (Please note that each of the application forms for Danish residence and work permits has been developed for a specific type of applicant).

Application Form

"NEW ONLINE VISA APPLICATION: From the 01 July 2019, you should fill in your visa application and pay the application fee online using https://applyvisa.um.dk/. After you have applied and paid the visa fee online, you must print and sign the cover letter from ApplyVisa and hand in supporting documents and supply biometrics at the Visa Application Centre”

ONLINE PAYMENT OF R/W FEE (new link!):

“From 01 July 2019, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark including all Danish diplomatic missions are introducing online payment of the embassy fee for residence or work permit.

The embassy fee should be paid online using this link https://dys.um.dk/permit/

The receipt for the payment should be submitted at the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS) when you hand in your passport, relevant documentation and supply biometrics. Please note that in R/W permit cases there are three fees to be paid. 1) The fee to either The Danish Immigration Service or The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI), 2) the fee to the Danish embassy (using the link https://dys.um.dk/permit/) and 3) the fee to the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS).”
